Syndicate, Need For Speed Giveaway Winner Announced!

Okay, we've selected the winner for our latest giveaway .

I've got a couple codes, one each for Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Need for Speed , and I'm giving them away to one lucky gamer.

All you had to do to enter was leave a comment under the original article, and it might've helped if you Liked us on Facebook and Followed us on Twitter. Although really, all I did was start scrolling up and down among the comments, close my eyes, and point. Now, strictly from a logical perspective, this meant that if you wrote a bit more about why you wanted these games, you had more of a chance to win, 'cuz your comment would've taken up more space. 😉

But perhaps karma intervened, too, because I think the winner had a pretty solid story behind his entry. And it's:

sawao_yamanaka

If he could email me at bdutka[at]psxextreme.com , I'll send over the codes. Just a reminder, sawao, these will only work on a North American PlayStation 4 console. If you don't reside in the region, I'll have to pick another winner. If you do, congrats!

And by the way, it's feasible I'll have more codes to give away during the holiday season, so stay tuned…

Double Dip Game Of The Year Giveaway Winner Announced!

Last year, we decided to run a fun little giveaway, and now it's time to select a winner.

It was the Double Dip Game of the Year 2014 Giveaway and to be eligible, you simply had to be a member of the PSXE community.

However, it might've helped if you participated in other ways (as previously outlined). Either way, the drawing was completely random and here's your winner:

MRSUCCESS

Now, if this member does not reside within the U.S., we'll be forced to pick another winner. Otherwise, this is the lucky one who gets a copy of our Game of the Year selection ( Dragon Age: Inquisition ) and a copy of his or her GotY pick. If the two games are the same, or he or she doesn't want Inquisition , I'm sure we can work something out. The winner can email me at bdutka[at]psxextreme.com .

Thanks to all who participated and be sure to be on the lookout for more giveaways in 2015!

PSXE’s Crazy Double-Dip Game Of The Year 2014 Giveaway

You've never seen a giveaway like this before (we don't think).

Suffering from the post-E3 letdown? Looking at sort of a bare summer for gaming? Well, your favorite websites continue to function no matter what's going on in the industry, so here's what we're going to do:

We're going to hold a giveaway contest and the winner will receive:

— A new copy of the game PSXE chooses for Game of the Year (GotY Awards typically decided on January 2 or 3)

— A new copy of the game YOU chose for Game of the Year

That's right, two brand new games, shipped right to your door. This will be a random drawing, and we'll be selecting the name from our community. In other words, we'll dump all the registered names for the site into a big ol' virtual bin and extract a winner at the end of the year. Between now and then, you can improve your chances of winning by doing the following:

1. Recommend PSXE to a friend, and get that friend to check us out: Either you or your friend sends us a quick email at bdutka[at]psxextreme.com just to let us know you traded info, and that'll get you a little farther toward the prize.

2. Contribute to the comments on the main page: Sign up and have a chat with our laid-back, knowledgeable community! Maybe even write a user review if you're so inclined…

3. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook: Our social media is updated daily with highlights from the site, so check it out!

That's it. The only other requirement is that you have to reside within the US to be eligible. Yeah, we get that this annoys people but we have the policy in place for a reason. And remember, you don't have to do everything listed above; hell, all it takes to be entered into the contest is a registration at the site. Anything else is just gravy and might boost your chances.

Take your time, but we'll keep this on the front page as a reminder. We've handed out all sorts of things over the years, from specially colored consoles to games to collector's items. Time to kick it up again. 🙂

PSXE Newsletter Giveaway: Your Chance To Win Resident Evil 6

Update: I figure most know this by now, but I should make it clear- To be eligible to win, you must be a US citizen, or at least have a US mailing address to which the prize can be sent. Sorry, but customs is just a colossal pain in the ass.

Original Story:

If you've got Resident Evil 6 on your holiday wish list and your wish doesn't come true, don't cry…we're giving you another chance to snag it.

If you didn't already know, we typically send out a newsletter twice a week; it features ten of the hottest headlines along with a brief summary of the top stories and content, including reviews, previews, editorials, and features. It's a great way to catch up.

Thing is, we're doing a server transition for the newsletter, so even if you're already a subscriber, you'll have to sign up again if you want to continue to receive it. To help encourage that, we're doing a very simple giveaway: Sign up to get our newsletter and you'll automatically be entered into a random drawing. The prize? A copy of Resident Evil 6 that comes in a cool Biohazard steelbook case, and even a RE6 Origin of the Species t-shirt (Large, tan color). The deadline for signing up is December 31, 2012 and we'll be sure to remind you on a weekly basis. Hopefully, we'll get a bunch of newcomers, too!

A few seconds and bam, you're in the running. Can't make it much easier than that, right?

PSXE User Review Contest: Next Round Of Prizes Revealed

Our So You Think You Can Review Video Games user review contest is entering its second phase, and it's time to give you a glimpse at what we have to offer.

We're accepting user review submissions now; click the link above to get started if you aren't familiar with the rules. We'll select the best ten submissions at the end of this week, and then put it to a community vote. The first time around, we actually had to have a face-off tiebreaker ; let's see if we can choose an outright winner first time out, m'kay? 😉

As for prizes, it's always nice to have a variety, right? So in the spirit of diversity, we've got several goodies sitting here, any one of which could be sent your way if you manage to win the next round.

One of these can be yours – in addition to getting your user review published as an official guest review – so submit your effort now! And hey, if you keep wowing the crowd with your analyzing skills, something bigger could be in store towards the end of the year…

PSXE Contest: So You Think You Can Review Video Games

Yeah, we know. Every avid gamer in existence thinks they can do it. Well, if you're one of many who claim they could do what every professional critic does, now you're chance to make good.

We are hosting an ongoing contest/giveaway that will give gamers everywhere across the US the opportunity to earn both experience and prizes simply by writing game reviews. And the victors will not be determined by us; rather, they will be selected by your peers.

It's really very simple-

1. Write a review for a game (any game), sign up for the site, head into your User CP , amd submit it.

It can be any length you choose, and you can tackle the analysis however you see fit. Your review must pass through an approval on our end, but that's only for spam purposes; we will not edit your review in any way. So if there are misspellings and errors, that's on you.

2. Every Sunday night, we will select the 10 best User Reviews and place them in our weekly poll (on the right of the main page). If there were less than 10 submitted during the week, all will go into the poll. That's where our role ends; then it's up to the community to determine the very best user review. We've got a sharp group, by the way…

3. The winning user review will be highlighted in our "PSXE Poll Update" (also posted on Sunday), and it doesn't end there. You're more than welcome to keep submitting. And if you keep gaining the approval of the community, you will be in line for free games and other goodies. Whatever I've got available from publishers might be coming your way…

Lastly, as we move forward, the best review writers will have the chance of submitting guest reviews to our site, to be published as a real review, which will likely pop up at Metacritic, GameRankings, etc. So maybe you're in college and looking into getting some experience for game journalism, or maybe you've always said to yourself, "Hey, that's something I'd like to do." Well, here you go.

And at the end of the year, an even bigger prize might be lurking for the best of the best…

The only rules are that you must be 18 years of age or older and you must be a US citizen . And feel free to join the community and vote alongside your fellow competitors; it's all about fair play and admitting that maybe, just maybe, there are other people on the Internet who can write a better video game review than you. 😉

Have fun!
