MGSV Frame Rate, Resolution Confirmed

We all know Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will look amazing. For further proof, check out the recent Gamescom 2015 trailer .

However, the technically-minded still want to know the specs, which we finally have: As confirmed at the game's official website , MGSV will sport the same resolution and frame rate across consoles. Well, mostly.

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will display in 720p and 30 frames per second, while the PS4 version will hit 1080p and 60 frames per second, and the Xbox One iteration will manage 60 fps and 900p, with a "final" resolution of 1080p. It appears we're looking at an upscaled number here but that's all right; the majority of gamers won't be able to tell the difference. Full 1080p appears to be impossible (or at best, elusive) for Xbox One games so far this generation.

All that's left now is to play it. MGSV is only three weeks away; it's set to arrive on September 1.

Konami Offers Some MGSV Multiplayer Customization Info

Want to know more about the online component included with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain ?

Konami has obliged gamers on the official MGO Twitter page , answering more than a few fan questions.

They went into some detail concerning player customization during matches, for example. We'll be able to alter the color and patterns of our gear but unfortunately, you can't make designs yourself, and this gear won't affect your statistics. Here's a brief rundown of the other tidbits Konami revealed:

MGSV is set to launch on September 1 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; it will be available for PC players on September 15. If you were wondering, Konami is calling the online mode "Metal Gear Online 3."

Could You Have Predicted MGSV After Playing The Original?

Yeah, I know. There's really no way to predict the future.

But when we were younger, we always liked to theorize about the future of the video game industry. There was a time when all of us were convinced that nothing could get better than Super Mario Bros. on the NES. After all, we were coming off Atari and Colecovision, so SMB was like… wow .

If we're being honest with ourselves, there were probably many times when we said, "it can't get much better than this, can it?" But obviously, technology won't be stopped and here we sit in a new virtual world. Therefore, it's always fun to look back and try to remember: What were we predicting in terms of franchise futures? Could we have predicted where Final Fantasy would end up? Probably not. What about Metal Gear Solid ? Could we have predicted how MGSV would look over 17 years after the original blew us all away?

And when I ask this, I'm not talking about the technical side, per se. There's also the gameplay style to think about. The original MGS was a top-down pure stealth adventure and if you forget, MGS2 was completely different. Perhaps we could better see the future after Sons of Liberty on PS2 in 2001…? And here's another question: Is MGSV indicative of the direction fans of the original wanted to see?

It's worth asking, at any rate.

Last-Gen MGSV Versions Support Fewer Players Online

If you're still playing on last-gen systems when Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases, you'll have to deal with a slightly lesser experience.

According to the game's Japanese website (and as translated by Videogamer ), the last-gen versions of MGSV will only support 12 players online, while the PS4, Xbox One and PC iterations will support up to 16.

Now everyone is wondering: Does this mean there will be other differences? It seems hard to believe that the only difference will be the max number of players, but you never know. Perhaps the maps will have to shrink, though (as they did in Battlefield 3 ). Some consumers are waiting for games like MGSV before jumping onto the new console bandwagon, and maybe information like this will help convince others as well.

Konami has already confirmed that Metal Gear Online will be a free part of The Phantom Pain . Looking forward to it?

New MGSV Info: Detailed World, “Deep Weapon System”

Yeah, I know. If you're a Metal Gear Solid fan, you can't possibly have enough information for MGSV.

If you've been following along, you've got a good idea of what to expect in The Phantom Pain . But here are a few more interesting tidbits courtesy of Metal Gear Informer .

Kojima and partner Shinkawa were talking on the latest Kojima Station episode and they addressed several topics of interest: Firstly, even though the game has a more open design, it will still boast the same "attention to detail" for which the franchise is known. Secondly, the weapon system will be "deep and detailed," which is actually Shinkawa's doing. Kojima didn't want it quite so deep and he called Shinkawa "a little nuts" for doing it, but Kojima ended up being "blown away."

Additionally, you can adjust the color of your Mother Base and your vehicles, and you can even create custom emblems. You may have seen the ballistic shield Snake has at his disposal; when he carries it on his back, it will still deflect bullets, and the shield can be used in conjunction with your guns.

Kojima says it's the MGS he's wanted to make for a long time, but wasn't able to due to technical constraints. He also thinks this is the "best playing" Metal Gear , which is always good to hear. Despite the greatness of past games, the control mechanic always did feel difficult and needlessly awkward (in my view, anyway).

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 1, 2015.

MGSV Gets Day 1, Collector’s Editions

The September 1, 2015 worldwide release has been confirmed , and now it's time to check out the special packages.

Konami has announced a Day 1 Edition and a Collector's Edition.

The latter bundle will retail for $99 (£99 in the UK) and it'll feature a half-scale replica of Snake's cool bionic arm, along with a collectible Steel Book, a behind-the-scenes documentary and collection of trailers on a Blu-Ray disc, a map, and unique packaging. Fans will also enjoy several DLC items, including weapons and costumes.

If that's a little too pricey for you, you can simply pay the regular retail price when the game launches- $60 – and get the Day 1 Edition. This nets you some DLC as well (although not as much as comes with the Collector's Edition), as well as a physical map. You can see the full detailed lists of goodies here .

And don't be too annoyed at missing out on this super sweet MGSV-themed PS4 . Japan still gets a lot of great stuff that we don't.
