Even though Mass Effect 2 is headed to the PlayStation 3 on January 18, you might not be convinced.
Many PS3 owners missed out on the epic sci-fi RPG franchise from BioWare, unless they played it on either the Xbox 360 or PC. And now that it's coming to Sony's machine, some remain skeptical that it's worth their time… Well, we could just say, "trust the reviewers and trust the positive word of mouth; you won't regret it," or we could tell you to play the demo. It seems a Mass Effect 2 demo will be on the PSN on December 21 ; that's next Tuesday, role-playing aficionados. At the very least you'll get an idea of what to expect, and it should assist in your purchase decision. For my part, I never got into the original ME but because of that, I never played the sequel. Therefore, it's likely you'll see a review for the game next month, as I too am interested to see how the PS3 version turns out. And yeah, I think we're all looking forward to Mass Effect 3 . You really can't go wrong with BioWare.
I still prefer the ol' sword 'n staff setting, though. Dragon Age and stuff, you know?
Related Game(s): Mass Effect 2
Nice. I tried it on the 360 awhile back, and I look forward to the game.
I've heard people complain about sword using RPG's and that it's done way too often.
You know what's used in games far too often?
Guns.
Still though… an rpg is an rpg is an rpg… I'll take what I can get…..

There should be more swords in action games and more guns in rpgs. 🙂
Really, what is hotter than a babe w/sword! However, the rpg "sorcery and gnomes" is kinda… Unsexy.

I wonder how much this will go for. The 360 version can be had for under $20 now. I've been holding out for the PS3 version, so hopefully we'll get a price break seeing as how it's leftovers now.
Hmmm…. smart move, this is definitely a game I need a demo for to make a purchase decision.
i have this game for pc. this is one of those games that i really can't imagine a demo doing any justice. hopefully the demo will be a good representation of everything the game offers, because i could see people who would like this game end up not buying it otherwise… its definitely one of my favs from the year.
The demo I downloaded for my PC hasn't convinced me.
I agree whole-heartedly with NoMoreWar. I love this series, but a demo wouldn't do it justice. If you enjoyed Dragon Age and you like sci-fi space operas then you will this game. The mechanics are much like Dragon Age
Well guys, here's the problem. I'm not going to be convinced to purchase a game that is essentially an unknown quantity, without a demo to try. So without a demo, this game remains unpurchased. I suspect that many PS3 owners are in the same boat because they don't game on their PC, and may not own a 360.
i'm not saying that you shouldn't try the demo. i'm just saying that i don't think its possible for the demo to give a very accurate depiction of the game as a whole… it will be merely a snapshot of what is a much larger experience, and in a game like ME2 (being an rpg and all) that large experience is really what its all about. i mean, if you like the demo, you'll probably like the game. but if you don't really like the demo, there's still a good chance that you might like the game.
Highlander, why not trust the reviews – or the metascores 🙂
I also agree with the comments here, I can't picture a demo doing *any* rpg any justice. The demos have a hard time doing justice to the regular, no-brainer fps/tps…!
thanks for the demo 1st
very smart move… dont you have to know what happened in the first game in order to understand what happens in the 2nd? either way at least they allow me to sample it first before a purchase.
the story in the 2nd does a decent job of filling you in on any vital information from the first. i never played the 1st one, but i loved ME2
We're getting the interactive comic to fill in ME1
Awesome! I'll be home next week to down load this one.
I was one that didn't care much for Me2 because basically I've never even heard of Mass Effect. But now that it will reach the PS3 I have definitely become interested.
BEN, DID YOU MEAN ''KOTOR''? :p
PS3 getting some Mass Effect love feels just right.
When I first tried Mass Effect on the 360, I got bored pretty quickly with all the talking and running about. Then a couple months ago I hit a point of needing a quality RPG with a good story I could get lost in. After playing Dragon Age: Origins, I gave Mass Effect another go. Once my mood was right, I found much more enjoyment in the game's story.
I have yet to finish the game, but have grown to appreciate it for what it is. The game does show it's age and has some major game stopping bugs. Several times I would have to restart the game because of my character freezing mid-battle and would not be able to control him. Both enemy and friendly AI is horrible in Mass Effect 1. I really hope that the AI is improved and with extra time in the oven for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, it can only get better.
What makes Mass Effect so interesting are the choices that you are forced to make, who lives and who dies. Knowing that these choices from the previous game will change the experience in the follow ups are really making me look forward to both Mass Effect 2 and 3 for the PS3.
So far, Mass Effect 1 is a decent game with a great story. If you like games with really good stories, you may actually like Mass Effect.

I'll just assume ME2 is more of the same and keep my gaming time for things other than a demo.
Oh yeah, I can't wait for the demo!
Can't wait for this game!! I hope it won't be a bad port!!!
I'll be downloading the demo and I do have some high hopes for it (or maybe just the final product).
Good! the demo of the best game on 360 for this holidays on my Ps3 xD.
