When a developer listens to its fans, good things happen. Some designers merely hear the pleas, complaints and suggestions of the gamers, but others actually listen . We just had to make that distinction.
Infinity Ward is one of those studios that listened. According to Videogamer , the studio's Communications/Community Manager Robert Bowling spoke about how the loyal community helped shape Modern Warfare 2 . Some time ago, Bowling asked the important question on his Twitter page: "Name one thing you'd like to see in Modern Warfare 2 ." You may remember this – we told you about it – and it seems the team has put the feedback they received to good use. As Bowling says, the first example of that is the level that was on display at this year's E3:
"Cliffhanger is a perfect example. The level we’ve shown at E3 is a great example of the community feedback. If you look early on at that first question we asked on Twitter, we said what’s one thing you want? Snow maps, bigger levels and new weapons were the top three things you’d see. Cliffhanger incorporates it all. We have a lot of the new weapons. We’ve brought over the attachment system from multiplayer and put it into single-player, so you’re constantly thinking of new variations of weapons, like with red dots and suppressors. And then obviously it’s a massive snow level that incorporates stealth and straight up action and low visibility snow. That’s what people were asking for."
They're also taking your suggestions for multiplayer and turning a few of them into reality. See, we figure game designers have learned that gamers are a pretty sharp bunch; not only do they understand what can and can't be done (most of the time), but they also have tremendous motivation to tell developers what they want. More studios are starting to do this, and the results are paying big dividends. Yep, just one big happy family.

Its really good to hear developers taking into account the views of the paying public!
Back when I worked with the Quake3 engine the first thing I always did was issue a questionnaire to see what people wanted from their maps!
Is Infinity Ward gonna have custom soundtrack? I think every game should have this, especially for online. I don't care if the campaign doesn't have custom soundtracks but i wanna listen to my jams when i play online. Anyone with me?
I think the logical answer to "custom soundtracks" is to turn down the volume on the TV and put on your iPod headphones and listen to whatever you want while playing!
@ big6
We have been through that before and most would agree that it is NOT the same thing
Man, custom soundtracks makes blasting away in Killzone 2 all the more fun. If it's not in the game at launch, hopefully they will patch it in.
@ docpain
EXACLY
I expect nothing short of perfection from this game….Infinity Ward wants to build a mountain of hype so now I expect extreme excellence from this game….is this fair?
I agree, we already know in graphics it looses to KZ2 but the weapons and maps better be something of a monumental change for this to be the best there is.

How about; when I mute someone, it remains muted until I change the setting.
Nothing worse than hearing crappy music through a crappy connection through my crappy headset speaker.
yeah… that sh!t pisses me off… lol
anyway, what I'd like to see, is a list of servers to join (like KZ2, R2, ect…) in MW2 instead of finding games at random like the last two cod's… like it technically isn't a cod, so it would justify the new interface… nothing bugs me more than landing in a random server with 2 other people in it… and keep going into it when i look for another server…
Hey Anti-Vision,
Hope you're taking notes here on how to attain some "Respect from Gamers 101"!
Now if we can only get Squeenix to listen to us…
how about more zombie maps included with the original game? maybe 8 player zombie maps.
Infinity Ward is out of ideas? Let me get this straight. They make an awesome game called CoDMW and it sells a kabillion. Next up is MW2 with maps from the community? Say what? I mean if they weren't already going to have bigger maps and more guns then what the heck WERE they going to do? Snow level was a good idea… but ice climbing sucks.
I dont know about everybody else but I hate big maps and please dont have no helicopters that are similar to COD WAW such as a vehicle w/perks. Could you imagine how bad it would suck if you were on Seelow with COD 4/MW2 snipers on that to big of a dam map. Screw sniping PERIOD! I hope they dont add suppressors to snipers that would be scary.
dude chill out…. sniping is not a bad thing, i understand that i kill you at the worst moments possible, but what really keeps me sniping is every time i hear the sweet *dink* of a headshot i just picture you throwing your controller across the room… so satisfying 😀
They clearly weren't listening to me since they decided to make the game.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!11one
(Yeah, I know..)
well im realy lookin forward to the release hopefully i can get it before its supposed to be released the same way i did with killzone 2
i certainly they have like a check box selection for what maps you want to play instead of just randomly, hate that to no end. and IN LOBBY muting, not just in game, so necessary
