You may recall the rumors of a Collector's Edition for God of War: Ascension already hitting European online retailers.
Well, now it can be found at Amazon.com . You can pre-order this special edition, which includes an "Exclusive 8 Kratos Statue" (totally bad-ass), a steelbook case, the official soundtrack, avatars, a dynamic theme, a code for double multiplayer XP, and a pass for "all future DLC releases."
The latter sounds an awful lot like the Rockstar Pass, which they make available for every major new release; pay a one-time fee and get all the upcoming DLC immediately upon arrival. And you know, $79.99 isn't a bad price; that's only $20 extra for all the extra goodies. Considering what you get in some Collector's Editions, that's not bad at all…and besides, it's freakin' God of War .

This Collectors edition seems pretty nice, actually.
I cant wait for an "8 Kratos Statue" as well 😉
I wouldn't mind that 8 statue myself.
Just think, it could mean 8'
Wouldn't that be sweet? I'd place him on top of my home.
Or it could mean 8 Kratos statueS
that would be pretty sweet as well =p
haha, on your roof? I think I'd put him at my front door to scare away Mormons.
I guess some men like toys? I've never understood the wow factor these little extras get from gamers.
lol, I am a Mormon and I'm not scared of Kratos =)
I don't really either LV, but an 8 foot Kratos is nothing to sneeze at. Or 8 Kratos statues. You see where I'm going with this…
Temjin, I have nothing against Mormons (I'll talk Jesus with anybody) except that they keep coming to my door around here.

so have you talked Jesus with them yet?
Tem's a Mormon…
::giggle:
that just means I love you, LV 😉
Actually yes I have, but I'm tapped out now. I like to incorporate a lot of historical data into my religious discussions and that can get me into some trouble. That's not to say we didn't have common ground though.
ah, I suspect that has something to do with polygamy or maybe something Brigham Young said, or reported etc., But hey, if you ever want to talk Mormons just message me on PSN =)
I'd be happy to if I ever have a question for a member of LDS. I think you guys get a bad rap for the whole polygamy thing actually.
ha, yea, both of my wive's think so too =p
World is trying to be polite 🙂
Already ordered mine last night!!! Can't wait for this game!
So happy we get a God of War swan song on PS3. This game looks incredible — even more impressive than GOW III, which is saying something — and having a prequel set in the early days of Kratos' servitude to the Gods means we get to see all the characters Kratos killed off later one more time. A fitting curtain call to this GOW story arc, I say.
I love that it appears to use more outdoor landscapes than GoW3. A nice change from the dark and enclosed feeling.
@Temjin ME TOO. I liked GOW III a lot but it was just so dark ALL the time because the story called for it to be. The best part of earlier games was the variety of the settings. Some of the best parts of God of War 2 were set outside, and it really "felt" like you were running around ancient, mythological greece. Very glad they'll be getting back to that here.
God of War III: Kratos Goes To The Basement.
Perhaps it was dark because the world was literally crumbling. I mean, he did rip the head off the Sun god's shoulders with his bare hands.
@Jawk, I agree. The darkness made sense through the context of the story. I just think it's cool we'll get to see the fuller, brighter world again in Ascension.
@World, hahahaha 🙂
I remember the God of War III team mentioning that they wanted to play around with a new lighting technique they had. I bet that was part of it too. Being able to carry around Helios' head as a lantern was awesome.
Helios' head alone did give off some spectacular lighting effects.
It will be mine! Oh yes… it will be mine.

Wow "likes" as a reward, what is this YouTube?
Thumbs up if you agree with this comment.
"It will be mine! Oh yes… it will be mine."
I just quoted something… That means my post will be the most popular! 🙂
MINE!
I pre-ordered this a few minutes ago. That 8" Kratos statue will look good between my 8" Cole MacGrath and 8" Gollum statue.
That GT5 car should've been 8" as well.
tes,
So ya don't feel bad, the swag car I got for "Split Second" was a only die-cast that's 1 inch high by 3" long
That is pretty small. They should have put that one in a display case with magnified glass on all sides. The GT5 Nissan is about 1.25" high by 4.25" long. It's not much bigger, but at least you can see it. 🙂

And to top it off, I can't even tell the heck what kind of car it is.
It sort of looks like a current Pontiac front on a 70's Charger swooped=back quarter-panel & roofline, with a GT3000 rear & spoiler deck.
I guess I'D have to pull the game out of my huge backlog just to really figure out what my mutantmobile is supposed to be, LOL
🙁
what happened to the good old days where collectors editions were, you know, collectable!?
half a bunch of useless DLC, and a crappy cheap statue which will probably break in 5 minutes like the uncharted 3 one did does not a collectors item make!
$ony REALLY need to take lessons from ubisoft on how to make collectors editions!
How the hell did you brake a statue? They're supposed to just sit there untouched. Statues aren't made to be fondled.
square under drakes foot that slots into the stone came off.
