Uncharted 3 TV Spot: Enough To Entice New Followers?

In case you hadn't noticed, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will be here in three weeks.

That's right, the wait is almost over. And in addition to seeing the intrepid hero advertising Subway on TV, you'll also see some theatrical trailers, too.

It's great to see Sony promoting the game, because the company has come under fire before for not doing enough advertising for PlayStation 3 exclusives. This TV spot is definitely awesome, too; we're just wondering if those who haven't played the series before – or don't have a PS3 – will be inclined to make a Sony-related purchase this holiday season. In our estimation, Uncharted deserves the biggest audience possible, which means a whole lot more people need to indulge.

Well, it sure is sweet. It should work, right? I mean, those who already know they're getting the game don't really need further incentive, but the idea here is to attract new fans. We're really hoping Uncharted 3 goes on to sell 7 or 8 million copies; Naughty Dog deserves it.

I'm calling it. Red Char-ted Redemption.

I hope the horses control well here. They were godawful in AC1, and not so good in RDR.

You know… watching that… I realized something about melee hits… I'm so glad Uncharted doesn't have superman flying/teleporting knife kills…. How dumb are flying/teleporting knife kills?

As for everything else, just seeing that trailer… you cannot call yourself a gamer if you pretend that there isn't some fantastic production. Anyone who pretends UC isn't that great is kidding themselves. Even if you don't like it… you can't deny how fantastic it is.

Great scenes, lots of action. In that sense it's fantastic. 🙂

Hopefully, there are few games that deserve to sell more than 4 million copies, this is certainly one of them.

Not only are the production values absurdly high, but the gameplay is super polished and the animations are so life-like.

Come on masses, throw Naughty Dog a bone on this one!!

Commercial seems too short for me. :p

it's a TV spot, making it very expensive to have a long commercial time. search YouTube for the real trailers.

Too short?? What, do you want ND to show off EVERYTHING?? It just wouldn't be interesting by then! They've already showed off so much of it, if you ask me.

Yeah I'm hoping they bring in some more fans…Naughty Dog and Sony deserve it. I bought both Uncharted 1 and 2 on day one and I already pre-ordered the collectors edition for this one…and I cant wait until I get it. 🙂

Publicity equals sales for any product or service be it good like PS3 or Uncharted 3 or i.e. even really bad junk will sell if publicity is there like for example garbage like Bose its crap but it sells due to folks seeing Bose ads.

Microsoft and ActiVision know this all too well. MW3 advertising is everywhere. Xbox tagged on the side or at the end of every commercial. Game sells like water in the desert. Kinect advertising too, but that is more like a mirage in the desert.

I love this ad and this game is on pre-order, but I still miss the "Dear Playstation" ads. They were creative, funny (like the girlfriend that thought Uncharted 2 was a movie) and original. I know companies feel as though they have to change stuff up to remain fresh every now and then, but why stop such a great thing?

Looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see what the pull out for this game from Kevin Butler though. That should be brilliant.

Don't know if it'll bring in new fans, but it definitely follows film advertising.

The ads are getting better. They will definitely attract new customers. Uncharted deserves a full blown Blockbuster Movie level advertising campaign. In New York I see Battlefield 3 and of course MW3. Uncharted 3… Not so much. The Subway promotion doesn't count.

Sony should put up a picture of Drake on the side of a building. Only on PS3 on the side and let the questions begin. What is that? A Movie? A game? Both?

P.S. Sony has a giant screen in Times Square. They should play some of the cut scenes and some gameplay action and let it go viral. I see so many people looking up at that screen when I am walking around the area. It is a resource Sony should utilize more for the Playstation brand and its excellent exclusives. Just show it. The game will sell itself.

Hmmm…I'm really liking what they did here, but I kinda wish it had more of a lead-in that told you more of what they were doing. Without that, this commercial feels like "We're saying something, boom boom, pow pow, buy it!"

But other than that, I'm really glad to see Sony advertising this heavily. I'm extremely satisfied with the Subway campaign because that can reach a whole TON of people, and showing commercials like this definitely helps when people want to see what kind of gameplay they'll get. Plus, what they show in this one is just frickin awesome, and that's another major plus.

I have to laugh: an extremely entertaining game trailer followed by a monotone "rated t for teen"
