Thief Dual Shock 4 Features, Maintains The “Stealth Core”

It's undoubtedly one of our most anticipated next-gen titles currently on the horizon.

We've already done a full preview but for even more juicy information, head on over to the PlayStation Blog to learn more.

Producer Stephane Roy talks about a great many subjects, including how the team is utilizing the nifty new Dual Shock 4 controller. They're using the new light bar to reflect the light gem in the in-game UI, which tells you if Garrett is concealed by the shadows. Plus, the touch pad "allows for better menu navigation and makes for a more intuitive way to perform various actions, like navigating the map or selecting weapons." Roy also had this to say:

"What impressed us were not only the new features of the DualShock 4, but how the existing ones have been improved. The best example of that is the motion control, which is way more precise than before. You can use it to adjust your aiming with the bow and the level of accuracy we get with it is really impressive."

And for those of you concerned about the core gameplay, don't worry- stealth is still the dominating gameplay mechanic. Roy made it plain that the Thief reboot is essentially a game about "light and shadow," which the fans should applaud. Said Roy:

"The core of the stealth in Thief remained the same, as it is primarily a game about light and shadow. The game evolved around that aspect, in how we improved the AI, the navigation, the readability, and the structure of the game.

We also took time to look what the other games were doing to make sure that we would make the best Thief game. We looked at how they were introducing their mechanics, how they were making the stealth aspect more accessible, and it helped us to find the right balance."

True stealth. That's all we want and we'll be happy. Thanks.

yay, FINALLY a developer who is letting you use the motion controls to fine tune your aim!
its so difficult adjusting your aim ever so slightly on the twitchy imprecise sticks its about f*cking time developers looked to more accurate routes!
have to wonder how next gen this game really is though, especially considering its running of UE3.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm………….
