PlayStation 4 is allowing Naughty Dog to do pretty amazing things with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End .
The game's creative director, Neil Druckmann, told GamesRadar that certain scenes in the hugely anticipated adventure just wouldn't have been possible with last generation's hardware.
"Because of the PS4, we do not have the constraints with memory that we had in the past. So in the set piece, normally, we'd be going down one road [now] you can see the road branches and splits up. There's a ton of exploration in this game."
Additionally, the power of the new system lets the developers add yet another level of realism to the game's graphics. They're aiming for a "filmic, cinematic" look with Uncharted 4 and the new character models are incredibly detailed (as we've seen in certain pieces of footage). Thanks to the PS4, Naughty could implement 850 possible facial animations for Drake, which is way up from the 120 in Uncharted 3 on PS3.
Sure, the new game will still run at 1080p and 30 frames per second (some gamers were hoping for 60fps), but there's no doubt that the new Uncharted will be one of the best-looking video games in history when it arrives next year. Can't wait, can you?

Give me graphical fidelity and exquisite animations over 60 FPS any day, thank you very much.
I cannot wait for this game.
It's almost as if technology got better with time…
Go figure… 😉
I cannot wait!
U2/3 ware soooo beautifull, U4 will be just downright epic! I bet it will be better looking then Batman;AK which for me currently takes lead in graphics.
It's good to finally see Sony's own studios commenting on the bottleneck caused by the tiny memory on the ps3. It's worth to note that this is what the more independently positioned third party devs was saying for years.
I fully believe Gran Turismo 7 will benefit from this increase in RAM at such a level the game itself will become the best selling in the series.
@maxpontiac ooooh, I cannot wait for GT7. I believe that we'll all get blown away with the graphics that Polyphony would have had cooked up by then *screams like a little girl..boy..girlboy*
I still dream that they would lower the graphics somewhere to allow for 60fps.
Commenting on how awesome your game's visuals are when you can't or won't hit what has been a benchmark standard with PC games for almost a decade is kinda funny. I know debs have to pimp their games to generate buzz but it's still pretty silly imo.
yeab wouldn't surprise me in the slightest tbh i ean you were walking about 256mb(DDR3) of ram to 8gb(GDDR5) there really is no comparison there very rarely is from on gen to the next. but this is really cool to see and hear fro the guys in the studio.
happy gaming
cinematic? that's not something i want a game to be.. if i want something cinematic, i'll watch a movie.
