Horizon Will Be “Comparable” To Other Open-World Games

After seeing Horizon: Zero Dawn at E3, excited gamers had lots of questions.

And while developer Guerrilla Games isn't spilling all the beans just yet, director Mathijs de Jonge has offered a few statements on Twitter.

As you can see, he says the game's scale is "comparable to other recent open-world games," which doesn't tell us too much but it gives us a better idea of what to expect. Will it be the size of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Grand Theft Auto V ? Guess it should be similar, right? Well, maybe not as big as The Witcher 3 …not sure I want a game much bigger than that.

de Jonge also gave us a few gameplay details. For instance, the game does boast a regenerative health system but you still need to heal yourself "using things from nature." And as for the title itself, he said we'll understand the name "Zero Dawn" when we learn more of the story, and that's just fine with me.

Right now, the game has a tremendous amount of promise and that's ultimately what matters. Horizon: Zero Dawn should drop exclusively for PlayStation 4 some time next year.

I'm thinking the health will system will work like Shadow of Mordor. It will deplete to a certain point with no regeneration until you pick up an herb or other vegetation.

I personally like that system because it makes your steps to victory a bit sweeter when death is right around the corner at all times. All of this regenerating health mess makes games way too easy.

I think it's healthy for devs to try new things once in a while. Doing the same thing over and over, no matter how great it is, can get boring and uninspiring. A new challenge should help refresh the studio and add some new inspiration. (Not that they were previously lacking inspiration)

The Playstation brand always made me think of them as the risk takers of the consoles. Sure sometimes the other consoles try out something new here and there but usually they don't and just stick with familiar names until you're sick and tired of the 18th entry!

It's new IP's like this that will eventually get me to buy a PS4. And I didn't even know it was open world, which makes me even more excited.
