Okay, so it's not the full-fledged sequel you were hoping for, but at least it's coming up soon.
And besides, considering the awesomeness that was Wolfenstein: The New Order , this is great news.
Bethesda has formally announced a prequel to the aforementioned title; it's called Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and it will release in digital format for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 5. As it isn't a full-length production, it will only retail for $19.99. It probably won't be too short, though, as the adventure spans eight chapters with two interconnected stories (all released together).
Protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz is back and this time, it's the year 1946 and the Nazis are on the verge of winning World War II. In a last-ditch effort to turn the tide, Blazkowicz has to take matters into his own hands. Said MachineGames executive producer Jerk Gustafsson:
"Diving back into the world of Wolfenstein has really been fun for us. We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons."

I'll take it! The New Order was the best FPS of the cross-generation and I love killing Nazis.
Now, about that promised Doom beta…
Looks great, hopefully the story is up to par with New Order.
But is there also another full game coming at some point? (In the next year or two hopefully)
looks like a great follow up to a good game
