This should be loads of fun.
Indie developer Golden Ruby Games and publisher Ripstone have announced Extreme Exorcism , which will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2015. The game was previously only confirmed for PC, by the way.
Dubbed a "paranormal platformer" in which "all of your actions will come back to haunt you," this retro-looking adventure puts you in the role of MaeBarrons. She's an "extreme exorcist" who knows that holy water and a Bible won't get her very far with certain baddies. As such, she employs a wide variety of more effective weapons; you know, swords, guns, grenades, rocket launchers, weaponized boomerangs…just fun little tools, right?
The twist to this game is that every time you kill a ghost, another appears that mimics your every move. You have "reap what you sow" and the longer you survive, "the more extreme the game becomes." Here are some more details:
— Story mode covers the ten areas of the haunted mansion culminating in a boss fight
— Comprehensive local multiplayer: non-stop ghost annihilation for up to 4 players
— Story mode playable both co-operatively and solo
— Customizable death match mode–change the weapon set, how ghosts spawn, and the abilities they possess
— Online leaderboards allow you to compare your scores with the wider world Challenge mode: specific rulesetups that encourage extreme play
