Rumor: Hulu Headed To The PSN

Although it was first rumored to involve Microsoft, it appears now that Sony might steal the limelight.

We had heard whispers about Hulu teaming up with the Xbox Live service but suddenly, a report from Bloomberg suggests that Sony might announce an agreement with the online TV company as early as next week. According to "two people with knowledge of the talks," the PlayStation 3 will receive the benefit of Hulu soon; those who have signed up for the PlayStation Network will have access, thereby giving them a chance to download current prime-time TV shows from major networks like NBC, ABC, and Fox. This probably doesn't mean that Hulu has switched teams, but more likely that they wish to expand by placing their popular service at the disposal of both PS3 and 360 owners. Neither Patrick Seybold for the PSN or Christina Lee for Hulu would comment on the matter, which is usually a good sign from a journalist's standpoint. For what may be around $10/month, you could get Hulu along with all the other goodies on the Network and the Marketplace…no word on if it might be worked into the freshly revealed PlayStation Plus premium service.

At some point, we'll have to ask ourselves the obvious question: do we really need anything else in our entertainment centers besides video game consoles? Consoles that do so much more than just play games?
