See, this doesn't exactly fill me with the warm and fuzzies.
We all know that From Software makes tough games. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls players can attest to that fact.
And of course, the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne will be a significant challenge as well. But did you know that even the game's creators are "having trouble" with the New Game Plus Mode? Project Director Hidetaka Miyazaki admitted as much in a recent MCV interview :
"Yes, there will be a New Game Plus mode. We’re having trouble beating it, though."
Great. If they have trouble, what chance to do I have? It's important to remember, however, that they're talking about the Hardened Difficulty, which opens up after beating the game. You don't have to go through it again, of course. Even so…
Bloodborne just recently went gold ; it'll launch on March 24 in the US and March 27 in the UK.

This has gone too far.
i really wanna play this game but i hate being frustrated while playing games. They should include a casual mode or something along those lines to open it up to more of an audience. Like Dark Souls, i loved the game and gameplay but i dont even think i got halfway through before i just said screw it and went to play something else,
This actually has piqued my interest in the game. Do I still have it? Guess I'm gonna have to get this game to answer that question.
I'm tired to hearing this as their sales tactic & truth be told, I don't want other games in future to take inspiration from this and just boost up the difficulty to the point where it simply isn't a fun experience. The notion of a game being 'difficult' has never raised my excitment, yes I want challenges within games and to have hefty competition, but I want more to the game than that. I have already stated my experience on Demons Souls with lousy attack animation but not only was the gameplay weak, the games atmosphere and narrative was just bland. Maybe in the Dark Souls games they stepped up their game, but my experience of Demons Souls does not get me excited for this at all. I think what hurts more is that this is the only noteworthy exclusive 2015 now…
Well Vivi…I respect you opinion.
Let me tell you as an experienced DS player that most players love the game for it's challenge and the atmostphere from the setting.
It's safe to say that the DS/Bloodborne series is not for you just like Bioshock Infinite wasn't for me.
Well said MRSUCCESS, the games aren't even that difficult though. I cannot wait for this game!
Such very sadness
Pff this guy getting worse than blank line.
All I have to say to that is "Bring it on!"
😀
I thought New Game Plus made the second play through easier. What with bringing all your upgraded weapons and stuff with you the second time around.
If hard mode is tough with NG+ then it will be impossible to start on hard mode….wait can you start on a hard mode or is there only one difficulty to start with?
Souls games only one difficulty and you do carry all your items over except for key items that are related to story or progression.
New game plus is harder, and each time you beat the game the enemies get harder and harder.
Okay, first thing: I've never known any devs to be particularly good at their own games. FromSoft, in particular, I've seen be horrible at their games.
If they're still out there, you can watch the devs trying to play Verdict Day on their pre-launch streams. They were walking around without their boosters on, not waiting until they had a lock to fire their weapons, not bothering to scan enemies, and thereby using ineffective damage on them, it was actually painful to watch, as a player.
So, when the devs say that they, themselves are having trouble with a game, that means nothing to me. Sure, devs will know their own game in and out, from a technical standpoint, but more often than not, they don't actually game that much, and won't be able to put that knowledge to as much use as a usual gamer would. If devs were great at their own games, then we would never have balancing issues, and the need for patching, fixes, and updates would be drastically reduced.
Secondly: I will state that this is my own opinion, right now. But I don't think that the Souls series is even remotely difficult. Unforgiving, sure. But if you look at it, the layout of the game never once changes. All the enemies and items are in the exact same places, every single playthrough. All the bosses have the exact same attack patterns and tells.
What's more, is that dying is essentially a slap on the wrist. You don't have a finite amount of lives, resulting in having to start from the very beginning once exhausted. You don't lose any of your equipment. You lose your experience points/currency, which you can sit and farm back all you want. You have an infinite number of tries, to solve a pattern that never changes. Bash your head against a wall long enough, and eventually it will give way, even to the softest of heads. (Strange analogy, I know.)
I honestly haven't played a game that I thought was difficult in many years, and I doubt that will be changing any time soon. But then again, maybe I'm just some sort of super-gamer, with mega-awesome skills. Who knows?
Very well said… Especially about devs being bad at their games… Especially during the conferences showing gameplay they always have someone that's horrible at games doing the walkthrough lol
