Another piece of the puzzle falls into place, as the PSXE readers have determined the Best Platformer on the PS2: Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal .
The original broke new ground in the platforming world and provided gamers with a brand new – albeit funny-lookin' – hero who kicked ass with his dry-witted, sarcastic metallic buddy, Clank. But Insomniac had only just started and the series continued to grow and mature. Up Your Arsenal is arguably the best PS2 installment in the series; many critics will claim it's the most accomplished, and in our experience, the majority of Ratchet fans agree with this assessment. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy put up a good fight and platforming aficionados could debate for hours over whether Ratchet or Jak would win in a straight-up battle, but this particular fight is over. Up Your Arsenal is the clear-cut winner, and let's not forget Maximo: Ghosts to Glory , which had an admirable showing. Here are the final results:
Gold Medal: Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Silver Medal: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Bronze Medal: Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Now that we've established the best PS2 platformer, it's time to move on to what should be the most competitive genre battle: the best PS2 Action/Adventure title. As the PS2 isn't home to a large number of top FPSs, we're including the shooters in this category, although fighters and sports/racing will have separate contests. Also, as there is no end to the argument over which Grand Theft Auto title is best, we're giving you the option of picking your favorite and voting for it. We figure that's fair, so get voting!
R&C is actually my number 2, Jak and Daxter FTW
they're both amazing titles. Never picked up maximo…
Maximo looked like a lot of fun…
Sadly it didn't sell that well, though I hope to get the games some day.
Didn't know there were a lot of Ratchet and Clank fans. Always thought there were more Jak and Dax fans.
Well for Action/Adventure I nominate God of War II.
That game's a masterpiece
shadow of the colossus FTW!
second that
my vote goes to mgs3 – although it's tough. lot of good titles on that list. however, in some ways i consider it the best game in the series, and that's saying something.
The inclusion of both MGS 2 & 3 as separate options will skew the results. If both make it into Round 2, then it is unlikely that either will win since the MGS vote will split.
Every other game (excluding Okami and SotC) is representative of several entries in its respective series, and thus will pick up many proxy votes. For example, nearly everyone who thought the original GoW was the best PS2 game will vote for GoW II, giving it a lot of votes it wouldn't have if the original was also an option.
I think you should make DMC, TS, GoW, and MGS the same as GTA (ie you vote for "Your favorite"). Another option is to allow only one title per series, though I think the first way is better since people won't have to vote by proxy.

Devil May Cry, at the time it was just somethin' I'd never seen before.
I voted for MGS2, i dont know why but i find the replay value on that game phenominal!, ive played it so many times and i still love going through it. I didnt like the camo system on MGS3, it was tedious, but run and gun with the M37 was a a riot!
my vote goes for resident evil 4
Jak and Daxter was still the best in my opinion but oh well. MGS 3 FOR THE WIN NEXT HAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!!
I'm voting for MoH:F just because I loved that game and it brings back alot of memories. I know it has no chance but idc, I know GoW will be up there somewhere, which is all I really care about otherwise.

I cant decide. Too many great games.
Damn that is a great list of games… I'm split between Shadow of Collossus and MGS:3… And hey guys don't forget to do a list of best Horror/Survival!
For me, it is a different game each time I loved Crash Bandicoot the first game I got with my PS3 (UK) from Dixons then before it went to Curry's, Metal Gear Solid, GTA 1 and 2. Then onto the PS2 and MGS 2 and the updated GTA's plus many many others I am missing out here, too many to be named or remembered.
Don't even get me started on the PS3 lol.
I love them all but for me it is Metal Gear Solid 1 -4 I have loved that entire series more than any other game, felt more immersed playing each game, granted the Grand Theft Auto Games got me immersed for a while, but I always found myself going back to Snake for some reason. lol
