More Retailers Slash Vita Prices, A Hint Of Something Official?

Maybe it's long past time for Sony to drop the price of the PlayStation Vita. And retailers may be prepping early for that anticipated announcement.

As reported at Dual Shockers , multiple stores have cut the price of Sony's portable.

For instance, there's a Target sale that has both the Wi-Fi and 3G models marked down to only $199; that's a full $100 savings for the 3G model, which is normally priced at $299. Then we've got Best Buy and Amazon selling both models for $199 as well, which could imply that Sony will indeed make an official announcement in a matter of hours. The PlayStation conference at Gamescom takes place today at 10 a.m. PST / 1 p.m. EST. Most are anticipating a launch date for the PS4 and this new evidence may also point toward a price cut for the Vita.

Do you think a price drop would spur Vita sales? I mean, without much in the way of software, it's still tough to sell a system, regardless of price…

All I want is a public apology from Team Ninja for the atrocity that was NG Sigma 2 Plus and the official reveal of NG Sigma 3 Razor's Edge Ultimate Plus.

What happened to Sigma plus?

Sigma Plus was good. Sigma 2 Plus was poor. It has a TON of slowdown. Way more than any game should. It shouldn't have shipped in the state it was in.

Funny I just got a text that Amazon has the deal too, there must be a new sku coming. Hows about a memory card drop?

hopefully if there is a new Vita, it'll use proprietary memory cards.

I believe there is a "not" missing in there somewhere. 😉

When PSVita is bundled with a game a memory card, it's pretty much the same price as the 3DS XL. IMO, Sony should release a smaller screened PSVita with a lower price, perfect for the younger people with smaller hands and for the people who would only buy a PSVita at that low price and don't care if it has a smaller screen. That can be the 3DS' competition. Then the current 5 inch PSVita goes against the the 3DS XL. And lastly, Sony releases a bigger screened PSVita (and with the rumored increased RAM), that would be perfect for a console/smart media/tablet hybrid and a lot of consumers buy a media device (iPod touch) or tablet instead of PSVita because they get more functions out of it including games. Plus, Sony has said they want to release their own mobile OS and this would be perfect for that.

MAYBE!?
DEFINITELY long overdue!
though its not going to do much until $ony actually releases some worthwhile games for the dam thing!
tearaway and mercenaries are a good start, but, well, 2 games do not a must have system make!
not to mention one of those games is more than represented enough on other platforms and series………
if the vitas going to survive and compete, it needs experiences it can call its own.
not experiences every man and his dogs platform already has!
