PS4 vs. Xbox One: The Big Showdown Infographic Results

The number of PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One comparisons continue to rise…here's another one.

You can find the lengthy infographic at Xpango , where the PS4 is pitted against the Xbox One in a battle that examines multiple important console factors.

Apparently, there was a recent showdown that ended up as a draw (as has been the case from many other sources), but because nobody is satisfied with a tie, they decided to go for a rematch. And when they do, the PS4 ekes out a slim 4-3 victory, winning in the price, design, specs and launch titles category. Personally, I think the launch titles are pretty well even, although I'd give the edge to the PS4's online gaming services. How do you think the comparison breaks down? Is there a clear winner?

These two relatively closely matched consoles launch in North America within one week of each other; the PS4 on November 15 and the Xbox One on November 22. Ready for the next generation?

I think the controller comparison is very subjective, even more so since the vast majority of people haven't really had a chance to hold either.

I believe the PS4 dominates in everything gaming-related, except for the launch lineup. Driveclub was pushed back, and while I think Ryse seems to have crappy gameplay, I would say the XO has an edge on that, at least in quantity.

There are about 50% more titles slated for launch on PS4 compared with XB1 – no way that XB1 has the quantity edge. They do have more 'mainstream'/casual titles, whereas the PS4 has more indie and hardcore titles (Planetside 2, War Thunder and War Frame all take a bit more effort to get into than the likes of Dead Rising 3 and Ryse, which were clearly built with a more casual audience in mind – note, this is not a bad thing, just pointing out differences :)).

You're right. I guess I should have clarified that; I was referring to the more "blockbuster" titles. But I just found out that Titanfall isn't a launch title! I was under the impression that it was, so now it doesn't look too bad for PS 😀

Its starting to look more and more like is going to come down to the exclusive games along with exclusive (timed or otherwise).

Could be that whatever system you purchase gamers will be more than satisfied. Depends on exactly what you want in games and service. Whats your focus.

I am sure the whole thing is going to heat up with the next 30 days AND I am sure fanboys on either side will come out mud slinging. Just wish they did not get all the attention they do not deserve. I guess I am doing that right now. :/

Keep playing!

MS cannot and has never competed with Sony when it comes to exclusive games. The PS3 this year is proof of Sony's dedication to deliver original experiences. The 360 has not had anything worth while this year and the XboxOne will suffer the same outside of the usual 3 franchises they always make.

That controller round needs a recount. First off, not many have held the new dualshock 4, but the ones that did love it. Looking at the One controller, it says 40 improvements but apparently the D pad isn't one of them cause testers claim it still sucks.

XBO's D-Pad felt too hard for my liking. Couldn't make KI flow very well.

im a sucker for the feedback triggers. once shooter fans feel it they'll go nuts.

personally, I'd probably like it for a few days then realize I'd rather have the function turned off to preserve batteries =p

Nor do I Darwin. But neither controller felt quite as comely to me as the DS3 does. I think the feedback triggers have been overstated.

DarthNemesis

LOL I cannot believe this is true. The DS3 was better than the 360 controller and the DS4 will be superior obviously and now the triggers have been improved for shooting games.

One thing the DS3 lacked in was the stock slope 45 degrees L2/R2 triggers, what was Sony thinking on proving on that design, thankfully custom triggers fixed the problem.

If Drive Club is indeed delayed and Ryse ends up being good, which it may very well be, I think XBoxOne will take the better games at launch lineup. No question.
And even with Drive Club I'd say Turn 10's expertise will eclipse Evolution's first efforts in GT style motor sports with Forza. I also think Titanfall will do more for the genre than KZ will.

but this is all early days. things will change once the stuff really gets rolling.

I agree. The Xbox has the upper hand on the launch lineup now. But the launch lineup is just that – the games around launch. There's other elements that's more important, imo.

And that's the hardware spec and system features. After all, this is a machine that's going to stay that way for many years. And then it's not much of a question who to choose, imo.

Personally I'd be more interested in KZ4 because I like single player but since everyone is an MP nuts these days Titanfall could well be what folks are looking for.

Forza better than DriveClub, no questions asked.
Titanfall isn't a launch game. But I was disappointed that I couldn't work out how to sticky-cover in Shadow Fall.
Ryse seemed mediocre at best.

The XBO has a better launch line-up.

I'm sorry to say that KZ3 killed all my enthusiasm for that franchise. :/

Titanfall looks indeed like *mighty* good fun. But also Ryse looks great. I mean, it's Crytek. How bad can it possibly be.

I'm hoping KZ3 was just a mistake and not a Final Fantasy XIII style error.

isn't Ryse by Crytek? I don't think they've ever made something that wasn't great.

EDIT: I see now Beamboom raised the same thought about Crytek 😉

and out of curiosity how is KZ3 so much worse than KZ2?
Yah, I agree there's too many on-rails segments, thank you PS Move, but other than that it's a linear pop-n-fire FPS action game just as the prior game was.
I read that the next KZ is supposed to feel more like a Crysis game. That being it'll be more open.

You must be joking. Crysis is absolute garbage. It should be that Crytek has never made anything good. Crysis two was a generic price of technology with bad frame rate, empty environments, horrible AI and crappy physics. Good thing I rented it. HZ3 is the best in the series by far and was superior to Crysis.

Temjin001

Darth we all have our personalized reasons for why we don't like something as much as some other guy but besides Crysis 3, a game I really do like, most critics agree that the Crysis series and the original PC Far Cry before it were strong titles, scoring higher than most games of their kind.

I must admit I never played much of KZ2, I was so bored of shooters at that time so I shall not pass judgement on that game. I just hear "everyone" saying it was a better game so I just accept that.

But I did play the KZ3 campaign to the very end, and my arguments against that game are major:

– The story. It was just too dumb. Like a puppet show version of the ww2-era in a sci-fi setting, with over-acted characters that beared *too* much resemblance to the real life characters they were meant to carricature.
The whole story and the way it was told looked like it was made by some mediocre film students with too much money in their hands.

– The linearity. It was just ridiculous. The maps were nothing but corridoors and the enemies were lined up as if they had a number floating over their heads, "take down this first, then that one, then that one". It was so railed that it was impossible for me to ignore it even if I tried.

– Some of the levels, especially at the later stages just felt unfinished. The layout of many of the maps were uninspiring and clumsy.
Especially the ones in space: The physics made no sense whatsoever not even on a very fundamental level, it all felt like a half-implemented mess and the corridoors we traversed were just… Paths.

These are my main gripes with the game, and they affect every moment I had in that game. All in all I found it to be far too hyped for what it did deliver.

When was this survey done… I doubt the PS4 is winning on launch titles any more from having Drive Club and Watch Dogs removed from party. As much as I want to have the PS4 on it's pedestal Xbox has a far better arrangement of exclusives… I cannot be the only who thinks that surely. What has the PS4 got to compete with Forza, Dead Rising 3 and TitanFall?

DarthNemesis
DarthNemesis

Titanfall is not launching with the X1 and it is not exclusive. I will take KZ and Knack over Forza and Deadrising. So just like mine, it is your opinion and neither Forza or DR are worth $500 according to the number of preorders.

I stopped reading at the specs comparison due to their use of "slight" to describe the difference in performance of the consoles. The PS3 and XB360 is slight, the PS4 and XBO several times greater without being handcuffed by an exotic, pain in the ass architecture.

Axe99
Axe99

Completely disagree with comments about the XB1 vs PS4 launch lineup. The PS4 has more games, and more variety. It might just be that people are only looking at the biggies (KZ, Knack, Driveclub – noting that Driveclub may well slip back a bit), but it's the tail where the PS4 has the edge – more depth and variety, and around 50% more games overall. I find it odd that anyone except casual gamers (people that only played a small number of games, or only played relatively mainstream titles) would put the XB1 lineup ahead of PS4s. Nothing wrong with doing it, but I think that a lot of PS4's launch lineup is being ignored, to the detriment of many gamers' enjoyment :).

The thing is the highest pre ordered games are 3rd party (COD,AC,BF) so it does not matter. Ryse will only be another tech demo like Crysis, Forza is the same as its always been which makes Driveclub more exciting, Dead Rising is still mindless which was never that popular anyway and the Fable game is online only. So you are left with nothing exciting or original.

I am sick of all these comparisons and console war nonsense. I like many will be getting the PS4 for one thing, the games which is what matters the most. The Xbox should not even be compared to the PS4 outside of general features, because it is going in a different direction and MS has always been about Live and people buying their console who was not really into games besides Madden, COD etc … and people who did not want to spend too much money. Now MS does not have that price advantage or more online features. I mean people will buy what they want or both, but PlayStation is and has always been about the games themselves first.

Really, when it comes down to it and the comparisons, its not dissimilar to what goes on with games whether compared because of the multiplatform or just exclusives with either negative or positive testimonies.

All these comparisons, game or console or the controller for that matter… helps to generate business through energizing the masses. Would not surprise me if the big business is not behind all this to help generate more sales.

Not saying there is a conspiracy here… but really I can only see this increasing sales. As annoying as comparison are and the fact it goes on and on and on….. and on… and on. 🙂

I am not on board day one and know what system I would be getting if I was. And for the record I prefer that controller over the other and always have. Never had issue with it. Not gonna say which console but I think being here… says it all.

Its gonna get fast and furious as the days tick down.

Keep playing! and be safe!

all the others im not surprised, but launch titles!?
seriously!?
so a kids game, ANOTHER shooter in a franchise which has never been that crash hot to begin with, and a facebook racing game which is apparently not a launch title anymore, is better than a proper racing game, a epic adventure game themed on something people have been screaming for for years, the epic infamous roman empire, and a hack and slash zombie game which has always put the fun in fun!?
sigh, this world really has turned into a bunch of ADD twitchers!
🙁

In all honesty I could just care less. I've been with the Playstation brand since 95 and that is what weighs heavily in my decision. I am not excited with the launch titles but that is more of a personal preference than a failure on Sony's part. When its all said and done buy the system you want its about gaming as a hobby. I don't have time to mealy mouth a system that I know nothing or care nothing about.

Nobody seems to mention that they mistyped or also potentially don't know the difference between DDR5 and GDDR5. They put 'GDDR5' in a circular symbol but right below it they type "but Sony's use of DDR5-…." lol DDR5 doesn't exist…

Silly people or silly typo.

The only edge XBO has over PS4 is exclusive titles during launch. With DriveClub out the picture, it only has Knack and Killzone.

XBO has Crimson Dragon, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3 (definitely a timed-exclusive like previous iterations), and Ryse: Son of Rome (which is talked as a failure out-the-box). If I take away the last two, XBO still has more exclusives, but let's be honest…

I love games, make games, and will always play games. So grab the system that has the content you want, whether "right now" or "for the next 10 years" because that's what matters most. PS4 is still my system to get because Sony will continue to deliver exclusives games and content; far more than Microsoft will promise, but, if they a healthy selection of games, in my experience, 2 is better than 1 (as in consoles).

There is only 1 thing I'd like to know about the xbone… What is it's life expectancy? Are they going to ship and "dead in box" this time around? A friend bought 2 360s at launch, one for him and one as a gift for his nephew, BOTH of them were RROD out of the box. Then the fool went and bought 2 more… *shakes head*

I believe that xbox has the better online service. That being said, I was going to jump ship to the PS4 until they decided to charge for online play too. Now I'll just stick to the PC where online gaming is free.
