This is a very cool idea, wouldn't you say?
Sony has launched a new auction promotion that lets gamers bid on costumes, props and weapons featured in the new "Greatness Awaits" trailer that debuted at E3. It was to help announce the PlayStation 4, which will hit store shelves this holiday season.
There are 15 items available, but you don't use actual money. Rather, you bid on the items by using the Gold Trophies you've earned over the years. You won't lose the Trophies even if you win the item, so you don't have to worry about decimating your Trophy collection. A new item will go up for bidding every 24 hours starting today; the promotion runs through July 30 and you can expect new items every day at 1 p.m. PDT. The first item is the super sweet Black Hand outfit from Killzone: Shadow Fall , which is a one-piece jumpsuit designed to fit a 6-foot man. It might not be good for picking up chicks, though.
Future items will include an infected Clicker costume from The Last Of Us , a Dragonborn dagger from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , and a Captain Kenway outfit from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag . See anything you like? More importantly, do you have the Trophies necessary to win…?
cool. but i'd rather sell my trophies for PSN cash.
$5 per platinum
$1 per gold
Make it happen Sony.
.10 For Gold And .25 For Platinum Would Probably Be The Limit.
I don't really care for trophies. I started collecting them because I thought it was a cool way to get a little extra challenge out of the game I was playing, but soon realised a majority of them I'll never get because I don't play online…

The same with me… Just started to do plats quite recently, but some games require multiplayer
I'm with you. I never cared about trophies. Friends used to brag about them and I was like, meh.
Pretty cool idea but without there being a cost (as in trophies) the person with the most trophies always wins. Its not a bidding war if someone can just go all in everytime and win.
Except you can't reuse trophies. So if you go all in that is it for your bidding. You would have to go back and earn more gold trophies. So anyone can win. Especially those people with high trophy counts that end up using theirs on the first bid.
That makes it a little better. Atleast the same person cant go all in and win everytume.
Although you don't lose your trophies can you only bid each trophy once? So if you have 50 gold trophies and bid 40 of them then you are left with only 10 as far as this auction is concerned?
I think I have about 10 gold trophies so don't think I'll bother with this.
you Can't Win If You Don't Bid. YouNeverKnow, You're One Vote Might Win IT. (God I Hate My Phone After That Update)

Hmm, I only have 92 gold trophies so oh well. Cool idea though. Especially if you still keep your gold trophies. There are tons of people with astronomical gold trophy counts. This would be almost impossible to win anything. Way to raise awareness though. I would be into the ACIV and Skyrim items.
No problem there crusader. When it comes to bidding everyone loses their trophies used for bidding. So high trophy count players can't reuse them, otherwise no one would have a chance.
But I have a life outside of gaming, this isn't really fair to me.
Um…the bid last night was around 700 trophies by ONE person. I have 53. This is lame.
Guess it won't be as good as I thought. You have a lot of trophies but some people believe that he has a modified console. You can cheat to get trophies which I wish that Sony could check because that is a lot of trophies!
The Killzone: Shadow Fall Black Hand Outfit closed at 1,050! That is just insane.
Has to be alot of trophy cheaters out there, I remember seeing someone's PSN tag with over 300 plats, incredibly insane. I wouldn't believe anybody out there with their hands full achieving something like that no f*****' way.

It was already proven the guy who won the Kill Zone outfit was a cheater he was registered with a trophy monitoring site his Gold collection jumped from around 3000 Golds to over 6000 in a single night.
good gesture ruined. guy who won cheated to get his trophies. check his psn id and trophy timestamps especially with black ops 2 plat and arkham city trophies.
