Sony Reveals Social Networking Applications For Vita

You know, we can't live without 'em. …or something like that.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that it will introduce several dedicated applications to PlayStation Vita. As if you couldn't guess, this includes Facebook, foursquare, Skype, and Twitter. As found in the official press release:

"PS Vita users will not only be able to enjoy the immersive rich gaming content but through the addition of these social networking services and communications widely used around the globe will also have an easy access and greater opportunity to enjoy communicating with friends by simply selecting the dedicated application. PS Vita, as the next generation portable entertainment system, will deliver an unrivaled entertainment experience, through close collaboration with various social networking services and communications."

The apps in question will be downloadable from the PlayStation Store, and they'll be completely free. You'll just activate the app by selecting the icon that will appear on Vita's home screen; it's as easy as that. Lastly, don't forget that with that pretty 5-inch OLED screen, users will be able to "enjoy photos and movies shared with their friends and acquaintances via Internet in visually striking graphics."

As the analysts keep saying, the Vita can't just be a dedicated gaming device. I still say it can, but whatever.
