This is for all you Final Fantasy VII lovers out there, especially those who thought they knew everything there was to know…like me.
Fans have discovered a previously unknown scene in the iconic RPG; it's only available in the Japanese version and takes place in an unused Honey Bee Inn lobby. If you speak to the receptionist three times, you will trigger the amusing scene you see here:
That dirty old man Palmer and the Shinra manager have a chat while the "Comical" melody plays and in general, it's just one of those lighthearted scenes. Seeing this footage brings two things to mind-
Firstly, if 14 years have gone by and fans are still digging around, trying to discover new stuff in FFVII, how would a remake not work? How much more evidence does Square Enix need ? A Facebook page that explodes at the mere mention of such a project? Literally millions of clamoring fans and dozens of petitions? I mean, come on .
And secondly…now I wanna play FFVII again.
lol… Palmer's torso keeps coming apart from his legs. lol
Well, I couldn't really understand the dialogue, but I guess I kind of get the idea. I almsot forgot about that obnxiously large "meh" response from Cloud.
Anyways… yeah… You're right Ben. People keep digging for a reason. It's almost like they can't get enough of it. But I'm sure SE is happy with 10 million original sales, another well over 1 million PSN sales, and no need to make even more money… Right?
Seems that way.
i always just feel so confused by japans culture. anyway, ffvii was my first rpg pretty much and i was hooked. i didnt know games like that were out there before that. still have an origanal ps1 copy of it. havent played in years but man it sounds like fun. its been years since i have played it. all the game lacks is the visual greatness to match the gameplay greatness. sadly they are to stupid it seems.
You know, the new Cloud, the one in Dissidia, Advent Children and the Final Fantasy VII spin offs seems like a different Cloud to me than the one in the original FFVII. Who he is now doesn't match the Cloud in the original game at all. I almost don't want a remake for that very reason. I don't like the Cloud in Dissidia and Advent Children. His voice actor is terrible and he's a broody little wuss with no charisma. FFVII is a gem the way it is. Seeing this video reminds me of how much character he had and that game in general had. Unless they can get every single person who worked on the original to do the remake and fired that horrible voice actor(all of them actually, every ones voice in Advent Children was horrible), I think it's best they just leave it alone. Or if it must be remade, just update the graphics like they did with FFIV and release it on NGP or something.
FFVII SPOILERS… er… is it really a spoiler anymore??
I dunno, Jawk.
I saw a decidedly large difference between the ways Cloud behaves before Aeris' death and after. Prior to halfway through the second disc, he likens himself to Zack in more ways than one.
Following Aeris' death, he got all sad and vengeful. He even had to apologize to everyone for that halfway through the second disk. If you read any of the "On the way to a smile" episodes, it's pretty clear to me that Cloud has a hard time letting go of his guilt over Aeris despite having found revenge and justice. He even starts sleeping at the church instead of at his house with his "family". It's a big issue for Tifa who can't find the strength to talk him into some sense due to her own guilt over Aeris. In fact, it isn't until the end of Advent children that he finally turns around.
Any other differences I chalk up to poor translations. "Ok everyone… let's mosey" isn't exactly the Cloud I knew in ANY FFVII title, let alone the original…
The Cloud you don't seem to like is actually far more accurate to the Cloud Tifa tells about from their childhood. Didn't really have friends… had anger issues… sounded like a bit of an @$$.
besides, that dialogue between Cloud and Vincent at the forgotten capital in Advent Children was probably the most important moment for Cloud over any of the titles. (I suggest seeing the blu-ray version over the DVD. It has much more to it.)
Hmm….You have convinced me to play the game and watch Advent Children again. From your explanation, I think you could be right. I haven't played all the way through the game in a while and could be forgetting how he changed after Aerith died. Maybe it's just the terrible voice acting in the English version of Cloud that's throwing me off. I've hated that voice they picked for him and Sephiroth ever since the first Kingdom Hearts game. I mean if you play Dissidia, some of his lines and how they are delivered are embarrassing to listen to. It's horrid! haha
K, when I am done with FFIV, I'm starting VII over. ha and yea, I have the Blue Ray version of Advent Children. I love it. It looks so nice. Odd though, the sound quality is kind crappy. I like watching it in Japanese with english subtitles but it sounds like the compressed the Japanese audio track which is odd. They really didn't need to given it's a blue ray disc.

I haven't listened to the Japanese version since the DVD, but in terms of voice acting, it seems far more genuine in that language. The other thing that's hard to translate are cultural jokes and phrases… which when put into English seem forced.
There is definitely a downside to the English versions. I've always hated the dialogue itself in the original game. Loved the story, but not the dialogue. I remember my dad commenting once when I was playing back when it came out and I was still at home, "Boy… they aren't exactly deep thinkers, are they?"
As much as I disliked it… he kind of had a point.
EDIT: I even remember he said that during a conversation on the Highwind.

I'm with underdog, you have to remember that the Cloud we knew pre-aeris' death in FFVII was a manufactured personality in his warped mind meant to mirror Zack, when in reality he was totally an emo messed up kid.
Yea I am sure it will all come back to me when I make it passed Aerith's death when I play it again. I just cannot stand that terrible, terrible voice actor they picked for him in Advent Children and Dissidia.
Yeah World and Underdog are right, I remember after Aeris died there were times I felt like smacking Cloud to get him to snap out of his brooding.
Jawknee I agree with you about watching Advent Children in Japanese, while the sound quality does seem to suffer slightly it still sounds better because it was written in Japanese or maybe you're right and the American voice actors suck, been awhile since I watched it in English.
Jawk: If you're playing it again go and talk to Zack's parents in Gongaga right after Tifa reconstructs Cloud's memories. You're in for a treat
Agree agree agree!
maybe they are just trying to figure out how to get it on the 360.
Well main to put on the 360 they'd just have to leave the graphics the same and put marcus phoenix in as barret
Marcus Phoenix as Barret….
I lold…
ahhhh, it Manbearpig.
But seriously, they'd prolly have make it 8 bit and add another disc.
I know what you mean Ben… I just recently completed another playthrough of FFVIII… I just cant seem to go a year without playing VI, VII or VIII one more time, and that's saying something when you have all these absurdly good games that have been coming out lately…
On the other hand, even though I really liked FFXIII…. well I haven't touched it since I platinumed It…
This is great, I hate when they pull things out of games for the NA release. I wish I knew what was being said. And there goes my nostalgia meter on the rise…
You have NO idea how much I scoured that game for the tiniest possible item that might "resurrect" Aeris.
i had this thing that i hooked up to the back of my ps1 and it let me hack into ffvii. it was pretty cool i was able to see the debug screen and all differnt menus that were not available. i still have the thing. i just need a ps1 to hook it too. the problem is that it needs to plug into the I/O port that sony removed on later models of the ps1. id pay for one just to hack that game again.
If I remember correctly you can purchase a memory card that has basically a hacked ff7 save file that allows you to use aeris after she dies and it lets you use sephiroth too.
Let me do some digging maybe I can link it to you.
here's the link, has several different save files.

You could get Aeris back with the GameShark, I believe. But I wasn't about to spend $50 to try at the time.
I was close, though. 🙂
I had the gameshark and I did bring her back that way in a later playthrough, but it was more sad than anything else 🙁
@World and Ben
I remember I read some rumor on the internet about a way to get Zack and Aeris back and that Zack would use the Buster Sword only… It was like some method that's near impossible. I don't remember everything, but I do remember having to collect 35 of those 1/35 soldiers and a bunch of other stuff. It was just about impossible.
Anyways, I did ALL of it… after hours and hours and hours….
Turns out it was a hoax… and 12-13 year old Underdog was a very sad panda.
Did the GameShark also give you a way to take Sephiroth's armor and Masamune off when he's in your party…? I forget.
I don't remember either. I think you could add him to your party too, but sometimes it caused problems.
the thing i had was not a gameshark. it was a different kind of device like that though.
There's definitely a trick to using Aeris without a gameshark, but it caused big problems at times. It involved opening the disk cover, swapping disks, and stupid stuff like that.
I remember a friend who had Aeris in his party while watching the video on the waterfall of Aeris dying. lol… kinda funny having her watch her own death from the past. lol That was with the gameshark.

Uggghhhh, again Ben? You are killing me man, KILLING ME! With yet another excuse to go on about a FF7 remake. LOL
Eh, I don't want any final fantasy to have a remake. Leave all of them in their original glory no matter how much people want it.
if they just updated the graphics and left the game the way it is that'd be ok.
and wb. haven't seen you post here in forever.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind a pure graphical upgrade. And thanks 🙂 I was computer-less for awhile, but I bought a new one, haha
. . . It's interesting to observe that Cloud was cool after finding out that Aeris was back with her first boyfriend in 'heaven'. . .
Holy crap thats what the legendary FFVII looks like?
I would definetly need a HD remake to be able to play it!
If you "need" a HD remake before you can play it, than you will probably miss out on one of the greatest games ever made.
I still play ff7 at least once every 12-18 months.
I like how it looks. It has a unique charm other games don't have.
Try it on a PSP, it's looks absolutely beautiful. The smaller screen makes everything look great. I played it a few months back, and I was soooo impressed by how detailed and by how good the environments still looked.
You have to bear in mind the game had superdeformed characters on the field and cleaner regular shaped people in the battles and FMVs. Look up a battle scene to get a look at the better graphics. Some of the shaded polys still look way better than the textured ones used later.

Blows my mind people are still finding new things in this game, just shows you the depth that was involved in making this game.
Making a ff7 remake would give square enix an epic amount of money. I read somewhere that they once asked the fans if they wanted a remake ( I think it was the japanese site, not too sure) and they got so much responses that they had to temporarily close down the website. What the hell is wrong with square?
Easy solution is to just give it some HD graphics, leave everything else unchanged and stick it on NGP. Cheap and profitable for them.
What place is this? Never seen it.
It's the HoneyBee Inn. You visit it when you're looking for all the pieces you need for the woman disguise for Cloud so him and Aerith's can get into Don Corneo's mansion to save Tifa.
Though it looks a tad different in this video. In the NA version, that giant TV screen was not present in side the Inn.

that part of the lobby was cut from the US version
Been playing Vagrant Story, original disk form. This makes me wanna play FFT once again, but this article may sway me
Its a sign for FF7 remake
I just know it.
I've had it with waiting an announcement for the remake, I won't be buying the remake if I have to wait 10 more years for it.
(My girl gave me the looks when she read this)
:S
Wow, this was a great find. I'm a huge fan of the game, and was very surprised to see this.
