Alone In The Dark Designer Would “Love” To Do A Remake

Survival/horror aficionados will tell you that Resident Evil was not the first video game to adopt that label. In fact, it was Alone in the Dark .

And if you hadn't noticed, high-definition remakes have been big this generation; just about every major title and series has seen at least one in the past three or four years. So what about a high-def update for the original super scary title?

Well, given the gap in technology, it could be a definite challenge. But that doesn't mean the game's designer dismisses the possibility out of hand; in fact, Frédérick Raynal told Joystiq that he'd "love" to make that happen someday.

"I would love an HD remake one day and I hope it will happen, one day. I think Infogrames holds the rights; I'm not sure about that."

The last entry in the series arrived in late 2008; Alone in the Dark: Inferno was an updated version of the PS2 version, which was just downright awful . Thankfully, developer Eden fixed a bunch of major problems and turned Inferno into a decent horror title for the PS3. But wouldn't it be great to see the original AitD title redone in high-def?

Obviously, it would have to be rebuilt from the ground up, but we still say it'd be pretty damn cool.
