For the first time in franchise history, Call of Duty: Black Ops III will feature a playable female lead character.
Female soldiers were originally revealed in the game's announcement trailer and now, as confirmed by GameSpot , we learn that players can choose the gender of the campaign protagonist.
The campaign supports co-op multiplayer this time around, so it makes sense that Treyarch lets you choose whether you wish to play as a male or female. Campaign director Jason Blundell says the team was inspired by Mass Effect hero Commander Shepard, who can be played as either male or female. And by the way, the Black Ops III script won't change due to gender choice.
Treyarch Studios boss Mark Lamia tells GamesRadar that the new CoD is "gender neutral," which should go over well with most gamers. What do you say? Any problems with playing as a female soldier?

I think the gender neutral is fantastic. I've long thought such a feature wouldn't be too difficult to implement, and is certainly something worthy of doing.
Uncharted, Assassin's, Last of Us, Grand Theft, etc. etc. would all be cool with female leads.
I might choose to play as Dick but my sister will like playing as Jane. And more power to her.
Female soldier is bad ass…
i like that they implemented the same script for both genders, im sure some will complain that they didnt make the female lead "unique" but itll be less than if they gave her individual lines and ended up screwing it up
Not only can they choose the gender, but the main character is fully customizable and different animations were added for each gender.

I do. I always think it's a lot more fun with a female protagonist.
LOL, why does that make it more fun? To be honest i don't care if i play as a male, female or some kind of alien thing so long as they don't make you play as some kind of weird transexual
Just means saving playing through the campaign twice. I do the campaign normally.
i guess its was coming sooner or later considering game are now expected to be more PC than ever before, whether this is a good move overall is up for debate but i know alot of people are happy so i suppose its some what of a good thing
