If there's one developer that could provide us with a fantastic shooter (besides maybe Guerrilla Games) for the PlayStation Vita launch, it's MAG designer, Zipper Interactive.
The team has unveiled Unit 13 , a new launch title for Sony's upcoming portable, which is scheduled to hit store shelves on February 22, 2012. This title was "designed from the ground up" for the Vita; it's a fast-paced third-person shooter with multiple classes.
Players will choose from one of six Operatives (each with unique skills), and then set off to tackle 36 missions across 9 unique locations. The good news is that we should get a lot of variety in those missions, as "some are smaller bite-sized battles; others are longer, more challenging, multi-objective missions that are a good test for any skilled shooter fan." And after completing the more difficult High Value Target (HVT) battles, you can share them with your friends with Vita's "NEAR" feature (which is super cool in and of itself).
With "considerable effort" put into the handheld's Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities, gamers everywhere should enjoy the social gaming aspect of Unit 13 . When playing co-op with a friend, you both can utilize "high quality voice chat," and co-op teams will compete for top spots on the leaderboards. The game will indeed be available alongside the Vita on February 22.
