If there's one developer that could provide us with a fantastic shooter (besides maybe Guerrilla Games) for the PlayStation Vita launch, it's MAG designer, Zipper Interactive.
The team has unveiled Unit 13 , a new launch title for Sony's upcoming portable, which is scheduled to hit store shelves on February 22, 2012. This title was "designed from the ground up" for the Vita; it's a fast-paced third-person shooter with multiple classes.
Players will choose from one of six Operatives (each with unique skills), and then set off to tackle 36 missions across 9 unique locations. The good news is that we should get a lot of variety in those missions, as "some are smaller bite-sized battles; others are longer, more challenging, multi-objective missions that are a good test for any skilled shooter fan." And after completing the more difficult High Value Target (HVT) battles, you can share them with your friends with Vita's "NEAR" feature (which is super cool in and of itself).
With "considerable effort" put into the handheld's Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities, gamers everywhere should enjoy the social gaming aspect of Unit 13 . When playing co-op with a friend, you both can utilize "high quality voice chat," and co-op teams will compete for top spots on the leaderboards. The game will indeed be available alongside the Vita on February 22.

Sign me up for this. The Vita is looking sharp with all these great games.

So, it has nothing but Co-op? Not one thing was mentioned about competitive multiplayer.
Sounds pretty awesome. I really want Vita so I can show it off to all my tech illiterate co-workers.
I've been reading the comments from the psblog for this game. And all I have to say is, how sad I am. Shamw zipper has fans like that.
Sounds pretty cool, and definitely plays to the strengths of Zipper. Wasn't expecting a Vita title from them though. Hope it requires some tactics, and it's good to see a bit of support for the Vita. Definitely make it worthwhile from Day 1. I wonder if Bethesda is going to promise another Elder Scrolls Travels game that they never deliver.
yay ANOTHER shooter!
come on guys, dont we have enough shooters already!?
how about a nice open world racing game like burnout, or a puzzle game like portal, or a adventure game like elder scrolls?
so many shooters and fighters announced on the vita, its turning into the ps3!
come on, gamers do play other genres then shooters you know?
Are you ever satisfied? The other day you were whinging about Uncharted being the only adult oriented first party game in the launch window. So here's another, and look what we get!
Imma just say this much: Katamari, Asphalt, Disgaea, Ninja Gaiden, Ridge Racer, AC, Shinobido, FIFA, Silent Hill, Persona, Tales, WipEout and Gravity Rush.
yes, but you dont go fix that by adding another genre were drowning in!
hey my house is on fire, ill fix that by putting it out but setting my car on fire instead.
how does that fix the problem?
stems back to the same problem.
only first party adult game being uncharted = only 1 game to play.
adding this still = only 1 game to play, because im f*cking sick of shooters!
so, how does adding this solve the problem?

I must say, it ain't looking so very bad. Rather generic though. Ah well, it's a first gen title and Zipper can't have been working on it for very long I don't think.
