Gearbox: We’d Love To See Borderlands 2 On The Vita

Who wants cross-platform play between PS3 and Vita versions of Borderlands 2 ?

Well, the good news is that Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford is definitely behind the idea. In speaking to Eurogamer , he said he'd "love" to see someone – an outside studio – create a handheld iteration that could correspond with the PS3 version of Borderlands 2 .

"One of the things I wish Sony would do is get behind Borderlands, because I'd love to see a Vita version of the game. I want to be able to have the character I'm working on with my PS3, and then when I'm on the road with my Vita I can just keep developing that same character because it exists on the cloud somewhere."

As for why Gearbox can't do it themselves, the answer is simple: They're just far too busy with the console versions of the game in question. Pitchford did say "there are a lot of talented developers" who could take the team's code, source and content and make a top-notch Borderlands 2 for the Vita. Who's up for it out there?

Cross-platform play is one of the biggest selling points for Sony's nifty new portable, and to have such a hotly anticipated sequel take advantage of that feature…would be cool .

A great idea but Sony's devs might be pretty busy right now too prepping the end of the PS3's reign and the beginning of the PS4's lineup. I bet there's at least a meeting about it now that Pitchford has suggested it.

Gearbox has this and Aliens coming, that's all that stands between me and the next Duke so I hope they move fast over there.

World, I honestly believe that you and I are the only two people that didn't think DNF was a disaster. While I admit the load times were horrible, I think the game was a lot more solid than most people made it out to be. Borderlands, on the other hand, has never interested me one bit. I've even logged in dozens of hours with a friend who begged me to play coop with him. So it's got a bunch of guns. Yeah, a hundred variations of 20 different weapons. MGS4 is where I always go if I want gun variety. The cell shading threw me off. Why do you want a bloody violent game to look like a Sat morning cartoon? The plot……did it even have one? If so, I don't remember a single bit of it. The characters even seemed very cut and paste from a Mad Max ripoff. It impressed me much less than DNF did. I don't anticipate the 2nd one at all really. I'm with you man. Bring on the king!

It would also be nice to see a decent FPS on Vita. Sony should take them up on there offer to port it to Vita

Dude, you gotta calm down. I don't think it belongs in an FPS either but there's more art styles out there than attempts at photo-realism.

Different opinions is what makes us human (and why you got thumbs down for expressing that I don't know) but I love cell shaded graphic and don't think enough games use it.

I played Borderlands, enjoyed it and got bored with it. I actually haven't finished playing it yet. The online time I got close to finishing it was when I was playing with my terminally ill best friend. Now he died and Gearbox added him to this game.

Now so close to release date, I tried to finish the game but it seems so boring without a friend.

I believe that those graphics fit games like ZOE2 and Okami very well. Don't hate them entirely, just didn't think they fit Borderlands. The original teaser trailer (done in non cell shaded CGI) had me so pumped for this game. After seeing the final product, I was like, "meh…..next".

Is there a Vita version of the Unreal engine yet? Cause that would be a huge leap toward realization of this.

you heard him kaz, now make it happen!
nah, id love to see borderlands make it over to the vita but not the same game.
the cross play thing is cool enough but the vita needs its own games to stand on its own!
no point just making every ps3 game available on the vita!
exactly why the vita is struggling so much, it just does not have enough unique titles it can call its own!
