Castlevania Ships A Million In The US And Europe

It certainly turned out well for fans of the series, and many consider it to be the first great 3D installment in the esteemed franchise.

And now, Konami has announced that Mercury Steam's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has shipped 1 million copies in the US and Europe. Developed with the help of Kojima Productions, the game has proven popular thanks to "rich storytelling, innovative gameplay, intricate graphics, and iconic voice acting by some of the world's most recognizable voice talents including Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, Natasha McElhone and Jason Isaacs. The game will be released in Japan next month, and we'd expect it to be popular in that region. Said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.:

"Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we're extremely pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long. The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s most successful franchises."

When Gabriel Belmont's beloved wife is murdered by the evil forces of darkness, the hero seeks revenge and in the process, discovers what awaits the world if he doesn't succeed. Only the God Mask can purify the land and Gabriel's quest to obtain it is loaded with all sorts of threats and perils…but of course, that's what makes it fun. Maybe once it's out in Japan for a while, we can get some actual sales numbers from Konami.

It was a good game and well worth the time. It had some truly fantastic moments in gaming. Not to mention it's probably the best all around looking multi-plat I've seen.

That's a better number than Enslaved.
I'm still not done with Castlevania and GT5 is tomorrow!!

I think he means if Ninja Theory had made Heavenly Sword 2 instead of Enslaved, their game would be tops in sales.

Yep I said that because Enslaved was like the rival of Castlevania, of course I knew what game would sold more.

Like I'm sure Heavenly Sword 2 would beat Castlevania, Ninja Theory just didn't did the right thing, still good luck with Devil may Cry Bizarro.

My copy is waiting under the metaphorical christmas tree and I can't wait to get to it. From the demo and what I've heard, the only improvements we need for the next installment are camera issues and physics issues (I'd much prefer the character to weigh more than an ounce and have his weapon feel like it exists) Other than that it's all good.

Now, Konami, about Suikoden VI…

With Kojima's involvement in this one, I have to think it will be a great seller once It releases in Japan.

ok, so we have established people were not playing enslaved early october, they were not playing this early october.
so what the bloomin hell were they playing!?
when you have crap like BO selling in 1 day what these have in over a month, thats when you know your in serious trouble!
tis what i cant understand about the industry these days, crap sells well and gold sells poorly!
WTF?
i thought we were suppose to reward developers for creating good games, not crap ones!
in that case everyone go out right now and go buy rouge warrior………. if you can find it!

actually, this indicates that gamers most likely bought this instead of enslaved.

they more or less sold the same.
IMO this is the better game, combat system and story is far superior but there both fantastic games.
remember this is shipped numbers, so thats not sold numbers thats how many konami has sent to stores.
last time i checked enslaved was around the 850K mark, which is more or less what this would be at give or take a small margin.
i thought at least this would be selling 2M easily, i mean it is a established series.
allot of people are fans of the series so i am shocked to see it fail so miserably.

Check your numbers again buddy, 360 and PS3 combined is at best 250k units sold. A far cry from a million copies of Castelvania.

"The game will be released in Japan next month, and we'd expect it to be popular in that region."

If past and current media create trends is any indicator, I expect very weak sales given the fact the japanese game industry have greatly contracted. To put it striaght, I expect it sell in the area of what Vanqished sold.

Given current trends and history you're never right about anything so no one cares what you think.

Black ops really isn't a bad game. Just because you dont like anything _____________ doesn't mean that its a bad game. And before you go all haterific and call me a fanboy, i swore i wouldn't buy another activision or cod ever again. But treyarch have done a great job with black ops and they deserve some credit.

Now don't go getting all up in arms, but I must say, these kind of sales numbers make me believe the game is good.
