Erm…this is new. We haven't heard anything about a possible beta test for Gran Turismo 5 but if this pic is accurate, it appears Polyphony Digital is indeed planning a testing period for the hotly anticipated simulation racer.

We're not entirely sure of the direct source , but the picture on the screen before us is relatively clear. Well, we are getting online play for the very first time in the franchise's history, and it truly is a massive title, so a beta test wouldn't be seen as bizarre. On the other hand, we haven't even heard the slightest whisper about a GT5 beta, which instantly makes us skeptical. In looking at the entire situation, we have to call bogus on this one (although it's still possible): thing is, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue , while not a beta test, does exist for a reason, and none of Kazunori Yamauchi's comments have hinted at anything but a nearly completed project. He did recently say he'd want to see "how the fans responded" to the damage modeling system they're preparing for the game, which implies we'd play it and then Polyphony would revise it accordingly. That could be construed as a beta, I guess. But beyond that, the evidence is falling the other way; betas are hard to keep under wraps these days, especially when it comes to ginormous titles.

Besides, we're still clinging to the ol' Yamauchi gem, "we can release GT5 whenever we want." We like to believe in that.

If they do a beta they should give it a different name. Like the Resistance 2 beta, when you were playing it all your friends thought you were playing a game called "Girl with a stick" I got a lot of comments about that one..lol.

I'm going to have to agree with you though, unless they want to test the damage I always figured that prologue was the "beta"

And they still could get the damage in Prologe if they wanted, like they planed a year ago.
But a beta my be easier, I dont know.

that would be cool. I'm hoping for a December release still though.

Not sure what to think on this. The one thing that remains constant is my desire for GT5 now, so a Beta does not matter to me.

I am willing to wait for damage to be patched in a later date so I can begin playing my career!

LOL, I know some people who'd sell their own kidney to get into a GT5 beta program.

Though I have to admit, I thought that GT5 Prologue was effectively the public beta for the full game.

A lot, heaps, loads! of people in GT communities I read from think this is a hoax.

^_^

And it's always to same story everytime. Sources coming from the person's 'friend' – "My friend told me he's in the GT5 beta, is this true?.." etc

No, 3GB is not a big enough file size to be a factor to me. I have plenty of storage space available.

well the uncharted 2 beta was 3.4 GBs was it not?
so anywhere in the region of 3GB+ would be plausible.

@ffrulez

True that, you can do a lot with 3GB.

@ fluffer

We mean it's a huge file size in terms of download, in countries like ours.

And it does take a bit of space if you're packed with demos ūüėČ

Do your countries not have GT5:Prologue available on the PS Store? If it is available, I would think the reaction level would be considerably lower as people have already seen a larger filesized download available on their systems.
