John-ShepardThe multiplayer action in Killzone 2 just keeps getting better and better; more downloadable content is on the way in the form of new map packs, and a new update has just gone live.
It's game update 1.28 and it features one of the last major requests from the KZ2 community: a detailed Join Game screen. We also get several repairs and bug fixes, plus support for the upcoming "Napalm & Cordite" map pack. With this update, players will be able to create games with the newest maps included in that pack: Suljeva, Cliffside, and Arctower Landing. As an added bonus, Guerrilla has added code support to allow the Flamethrower and Boltgun to appear in the multiplayer action, and of course, new Trophies will be featured for the "Napalm & Cordite" pack. But perhaps the biggest addition, as mentioned before, is that of the Join Game screen: you'll now be able to see the match settings for Friendly Fire, Custom Weapons and Custom Badges, and Faction Balancing, along with the basic info (game size, map, allowed Missions and Badges, etc.). From the start, fans of the Game of the Year contender had many suggestions to improve the online aspect and Guerrilla has come through in fine fashion. We can certainly expect more in the way of support as time goes on, and if you haven't given KZ2 a try since the game released, you're missing out on a fairly new experience.
Now, all we need is news on Killzone 3 , and we'll be all set. You know, how they're secretly preparing it for a holiday 2010 release…?

KZ2 is the only game i've played online for more than a week. I havent jumped in since i got inFamous, bu i think i'll play a few rounds after this update, it sounds like a good one.
This is a great update. Especially the detailed join game screen.now we can see what maps are running the badges allowed and everything.list of trophies look like there not gonna be a walk in the park. Thanks Guerilla.
I bought one of the updates, and I haven't found a game yet that plays on the two maps I got with it.

I bought the first two packs and love the maps. Sometimes there are only a few people playing them but normally I don't have a problem finding them. Now that they show the maps in rotation it will be even easier to find them. I will definately get the next dlc. Oh and when you say "has added code support to allow the Flamethrower…" does that mean they will be adding the weapons to current classes or maybe making new classes?
I really wanted the ability to carry secondary weapons (excluding pistols) online, but it seems that they won't change that. It is still a good update, though.
I still want the split screen though… but this update is still nice, just split screen would be better…
Guerilla Games has stated that split screen is not technologically possible with killzone 2.

i bought the first map pack was very difficult getting a full server of people playing it. bit of a waste of money ..wont be buying anymore…why not just release 4 maps at a time instead of trying to screw over your loyal fan base?
I think the first map pack sold well, so why would they change strategy?
I bought the first map pack as well. And I had more than three games that were full for the whole evening.
But I wouldnt buy any more mappacks cause they arent played that much a while after there release.
So: co-op Campaign plz!

theres no way it took them 4 years to do KZ2.
yea the engine is up and finished but still theres no way their going to finish 3 next year.
theres 3 things i want added to KZ2, sadly GG have said no to one of them a million times.
but 1 is either online or offline co-op.
2 have a skirmish mode just like they did with killzone 1.
me and my cuz have wasted so many hours working together going up against bots it was so much fun.
3 allow gamers to log into their PSN id and play online with some one next to them gaining XP to their account.
just like resistance 2 allows you to.
thats what i love about insomniac and in my eyes they are the best developers ever.
they allways add new features to their games, every single game they release they have at least 1 new feature.
i wish GG would put those in their than mayb it can take the place of MW.
but untill then its staying in the draw.
Ya, I agree, I wish that all games would allow you to log into another account and gain xp, like lbp, the xbox can, why can't the ps3, and split screen online is another thing, I would much rather buy a game with split screen online than one with single player online (some exeptions).
Unless they been working on KZ3 this whole time.
I still feel personally this game is below par. sure it feels nice to play..and i was kinda getting into the swing of it when it froze.
i tohught the disk was scratched so took it back and exchanged it for another disk
Put it in,played,froze in the exact same point. found the solution on te internet to reload the section.
This was incredibly stupid not to mention irritating.
As for online…ive played it three times and am still not impressed…sadly.

These Map packs are too pricey. 5.99 is a bit steep for only two maps. Throw in another map or lower the price to 2.99 or 3.99 and I'm game.
Why am I not ranked General in KZ2 online? I do not know.. Oh wait! I know why; BLAZBLUE. LOL

Overhyped? doubt it. I think it rocks, and worth every penny! I sunk countless hours into it, in both single and multiplayer.
In fact, just last night, I spent a few hours just on spectator mode. It give you time to enjoy the beautiful graphics and mayhem all around! =)
KZ2 isn't overrated, MW was a great game buts it's overrated. Let see another game that looks as good as KZ2. 32 player matches?! Top that! KZ is a great game with flaws like other games, it deserves respect, it isn't perfect and neither is any other game. MW2 will NOT be GOTY.
I love KZ2. I've been playing finishing up the campaign. WOW! What drama! What action! It makes you feel like you're really part of the war.
And anybody else who thinks differently about how great of a game Guerilla made, is a hater….or they just don't like shooters.
im still trying to finish the cruser lvl on elite, im up to that part where you go up the elevator and get a checkpoint than enter a door and theres a desk in frount of you.
i normaly sprint to the end near the stairs and take them out from there i found that easiest.
but allways die their.
if i run down the bottom will i get a checkpoint?
because i cant see how they can expect you to kill all those enemies plus 2 of the chaingun guys without a checkpoint.
and i thought uncharted on crushing was hard.
Yes you have to kill those guys without a cheakpoint, if I remember. Just gotta' persevere.
I thought Elite was easy. Hardest part by 1,000,000 miles was storming the palace (last level) but I cruised through everything else.
Beat Radec first go on Veteran.
I found the Uncharted demo (just the demo lol) harder though.
