While we'd certainly love to think that Rockstar was showing off Grand Theft Auto V at the Game Informer offices, we have to remember that this developer does make other games.
Like the upcoming Red Dead Redemption , for instance. Thanks to a reader tip, we've stumbled upon the game's official website , which just recently launched. The sequel to last generation's Red Dead Revolver , RDR seeks to fix a few of the kinks gamers encountered in the original. We've got several screenshots and a simple description, which is as follows:
"At the turn of the 20th century, when the chaotic Badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age, a former outlaw, John Marston, is sent across the American frontier to help bring the rule of law."
Due to the fact that Rockstar has repeatedly denied any rumors of a GTAV unveiling any time soon, it seems more likely that Red Dead Redemption is the game Game Informer saw. And although we loves us some GTA, we do have high expectations for RDR. The first game wasn't too bad at all, and the Wild West always seemed like the perfect setting for a video game. It's just too bad that we haven't had a really stellar shooter based in that environment, and if Rockstar can make this one worthy, it'll be much appreciated. Anyway, stay tuned for more on this promising sequel, and we'll soon find out of it was indeed the game Rockstar brought to GI.

Now this is a rockstar game I could get behind… unless they s*** the bed on it being a subpar multi-plat like GTAIV. Either way, it won't be a launch purchase, I'll wait to find out instead of throwing my money away again.
This game sounds awesome to me, hope it pans out. No rush for GTA V if it's not ready to show yet. I'm still recovering from the MARATHON that was completing GTA IV!!!!
I totally forgot about Red Dead Revolver. That was a R* game. I don't remember much about it, but I do remember it was fun.
I think it was a 3rd person shoot 'em up. I remember a lot of blood and a lot of bullet. But I think it was incredibly short.
If R* adds more depth to Red Dead Redemption then we should have a very good game.
Question how did Gameinformer get this mixed up with GTAV ? This game is western set?
Ah……you beat me to it. I was going to be meaner about it though 🙁
Me too… way meaner.

Yeah sorry Ben but in this case you're wrong. The guys at Game Informer are not blind morons. Either they saw an early new GTA, a new franchise, or they are completely messing with us. They did NOT mistake Red Dead for GTA plain and simple.
Never heard of the first one, this one doesn't look to bad, Ill rent it.
My dad actually played it since he's a big western fan (I'm not). Alot better than Gun which sucked.
As long as they keep the awesome soundtrack and gun duels I'll be one happy buyer
Red Dead Revolver was awesome, if a bit difficult, I'll keep an eye on this but what I really want is LA Noire and a new Bully.
I would rather have this game than GTA5. I really had fun with the first one.
RDR I think will blow our socks off.
They have learnt a lot since GTA4, and considering the competition to GTA is Saints R2, Mercs2 and GF2… they dont even come close to R*'s quality.
RDR I think will be awesome.
I loved gun and all the gta's so put them together and you have RDR, can't wait.
so RDR's sequel is called RDR…
great…
Maybe people will star referring to them as RDRev and RDRed
yeah-ha!!!
Im pretty sure I was the reader who tipped Ben but didnt sign the email with my username…
I've been following this game for a couple of years 'cause I originally heard of it as being one of the games shown behind closed doors at at one of those Sony invitational-only events at an E3 where everyone is under a gag-order but somehow the trailer leaked and its on youtube if you want to check it out (back in 06 I think).
Apparently this game was a PS3 exclusive and some of those screenshots from look like they are from the trailer which is a few years old now so the final product should be great.
I have high hopes for this one – I imagine it will be very similar to GTAIV as it is using the Rage engine, but I think the western setting and a good story could make this an exceptional game to remember.
Sweet, I enjoyed the first RDR so I'll be looking forward to this. I have a feeling it will be multiplat though.
Really looking forward to this one. Was such a fan of the first. =)
Oh yeah, giddy up!!!
kramer?
This game was fun, but I liked Gun better. The one thing that stood out in RDRevolver was the horrible hit detection, it took 3 shots to the head to kill some enemies. I was a big fan of the bullet-time Showdowns, and the multiplayer was interesting.
However, I liked the freedom of gun better. Playing as a Native American, using stealth and the hunting side missions were also a plus.
red dead revolver was a sweet game
i can't wait for this one!
I never played Gun or any western style game before…. So I am looking forward to this one being the first one I'll play.
Seeing it's from R* I'm sure it will be good. Just hope it will be a free roaming style game like GTA not just mission based from point A-B…
You guys seriously need to get on the Rockstar Broadcast. You would have known about this game January 30th.
