PSXE Poll Update: Call Of Duty In Dire Need Of A Makeover

The critics have spoken and now, so has the PSXE community. Emphatically.

After a slew of lower-than-anticipated review scores for Call of Duty: Ghosts , we wanted to know what you thought: Should Activision just stick to the aging yet tried-and-true formula, or is it time for an overdue face-lift?

While some basically just believe it's a plain ol' shooter and we should leave well enough alone, the majority believe Call of Duty is tiring. The franchise may actually contract for the first time in many years; if sales don't break the records of its predecessors, that could mark a downturn. So, what is Activision, Infinity Ward and Treyarch to do? Well, they re-imagined the series once before with Modern Warfare . Looks like they'll have to do it again in 2014.

Now, the entire world is talking about the PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, there appear to be some reliability issues, as the "blue line of death" is grabbing plenty of headlines. Sony says the problems are restricted to a very small minority of launch systems, but we want to know about you guys: How are your systems running? Beautifully? Okay? Or is just plain broken already?

I hope CoD stays the same so it dies.

How can there be a blue line of death, isn't the blue line on when it works?

The light is blue when you first turn it on and then it turns white during operation. It's orange in standby mode.

the blue line of death refers to the flashing blue light when it stuffed up. yeah i being hopefully that mine will work perfectly but yeah think COD is on the down it's just not the same as when i first played t on MW2 i just seems plain lazy and not even trying anymore they can keep it the same and see how that goes but its had its time i think and some other shooter will takes it's place for awhile while and EA will probs alternate battlefield and titan fall now which will be interesting

one thing ive always loved about CoD is they sure know how to separate their levels and make each feel different.
one minute your in a forest, the next its snowing, the next underwater, the next in space, i mean no other game has such variating environments!
other shooters could learn a hell of allot from it!
kinda sick of the obligatory warehouse, airport and forest levels.

as for my ps4, not well the stupid thing wont even get out of its box!

When I got my PS4 on Friday afternoon, the first thing I played was KZ for the entire night. I had bought both KZ and ghosts just so I could compare and almost prove to myself that I should really just stop playing COD altogether. over the last 4 years, COD has just gotten worse and worse and worse and I was spending less and less time playing it with each title. I had no intention to buy any of the new map packs that they would make for ghosts because I expected more of the same

I was so wrong. I don't know why people are hating on this particular game so much. It's honestly the best COD I have ever played online. and yes: this includes modern warfare and the first black ops which I thought to be very good games. I was so surprised by this offering. It's fast paced and almost twitchy. very small amount of lag (not including a slight framerate drop in certain areas of maps. no overpowered killstreaks. no quickscoping, c4 grenades, or noobtube whoring.

My bro who is a BF fanboy and hates COD agreed once he saw it. another friend who has stuck to unreal tournament because he hates all modern shooters, actually spend all day with me playing COD on Saturday and wanted to play more. KZ is a great game and I hate to have to go to work on Tuesday and swallow my pride(I have been talking so much s#@t about COD over the last few months but it is really good.

I am sure next year they will screw it up all over again but ghosts really is so far the best online experience I have ever had in a COD game. try it with an open mind. It is a lot better than you think it is….

As long as there's auto-aim, it's only a matter of time before people learn how to quickscope. Every CoD is the same. Takes a month or two before you start to notice quick scopers.

I haven't noticed a large amount of autoaim. I haven't even noticed it at all. I used to hate autoaim because it would screw up my aim while playing and to be honest? Not once have I even noticed it. I have to actually aim to shoot. It's really nice. I don't think people should judge this game just because they have hated the COD series before. This game is a departure from everything I have hated about past CODs. I would try it before judging it. seriously

It is a great experience, but people just hate COD for their own reasons.

maybe a good idea that the psxe people here post their experience's with the ps4,maybe a "sticky" topic for this?is this possible Ben?
most of us here are "serious" ps gamers, so we can see ourselves how the reliability of the ps4 is

The ps4 is an incredible machine so far. I can't imagine this game runs well on ps3 or 360. these maps seem very large and some really impressive graphics. maybe not going for realistic looking like KZ but still impressive. artistically it looks more "arcade" which I think throws a lot of people off.
