PlayStation Vita Box, Launch Apps And Screen Revealed

If you want a better idea of what to expect when you turn on your shiny new PlayStation Vita, head over to the European PlayStation Blog .

Obviously, you get a chance to see the box, which we've got right here. But you also get to see the main screen's app icons; it's just a selection of the features and services Vita will offer upon the system's anticipated launch.

There's the Welcome Park, which will walk you through all the cool handheld features, the Party function (which lets you chat with friends any time you wish, even when playing games), Group Messaging, Photos, Music, Trophies, Friends, Internet Browser, and of course, the PlayStation Store, which every gamer should use.

But don't forget about Near, an "exclusive location-based gaming network" that lets you remain connected to all your PSN friends. You can share information about yourself based on your location, and hit the Update button to find new friends in your area. Through this function, you can even send and receive new levels, unlocks, and in-game items.

It's definitely a slick-looking device and we can't wait to get our hands on it. We just hope it doesn't mean anything that such an update is on the European Blog and not on the North American version…
