Take-Two Wants Red Dead To Be One Of Their “Permanent” IPs

Um…yes, please!

It seems Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar might be close to announcing a new Bully iteration , but there's another big-time announcement we want even more .

Yeah, Red Dead Redemption 2 . And the good news is that according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, the IP could become a "permanent franchise." Red Dead was mentioned among a group of titles that already have at least one sequel apiece:

"It's been our goal not just to preserve and grow the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also to build other franchises that we think can be permanent, whether that's the Red Dead franchise or the Borderlands franchise or the BioShock franchise or others, Civilization, for example."

He went on to say that his company's goal is to create enduring, long-lasting franchises, which he considers "unique" in the gaming industry today. Instead of thinking that a series has a certain lifespan, Take-Two would rather see it as…well, undying, kinda like James Bond. This could be seen as a bad thing, but let's not forget that Rockstar and Take-Two rarely put out a disappointing product. We usually have to wait a while but the game is almost always worth the wait.

Besides, RDR sold very well. So why not give us that sequel? Maybe after GTAV is out the door, they'll announce both Bully 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for next-gen consoles…and that would so make my day.
