So, on which system do you intend to play Star Wars: Battlefront ?
The beta for the hotly anticipated multiplayer shooter is in full swing and tech lovers Digital Foundry have compared the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
First, they discovered that DICE's effort runs at 900p on PS4 while the Xbox One edition runs at 720p, which leads to the following compromised graphics:
"From an image quality perspective, the compromises are just as you'd expect; we see more aliased edges, and a higher level of shimmering on fine distant detail–particularly on Tatooine's flag-lines. Added to that, there's a softening to the picture as a whole–a result of a more drastic upscale, combined with a similar grade of post-process anti-aliasing to PS4."
However, texture and shadow quality are virtually identical between the two versions, as is the use of tessellated geometry. Also, both versions have similar levels of pop-in, so you won't spot much of a difference there. That being said, the crew concludes that at this point, it's fair to say the PS4's beta is in "healthier shape."
The Star Wars: Battlefront beta doesn't offer an offline option (although the final version will), and for more info on the test, click here . The game is slated to launch on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I installed a GTX 980 in a friend's PC the other day… Star Wars Battlefront beta was the first thing he played… It looked very nice. That said, I only have a Radeon 5770… So after weeping on the inside, just a bit, I smiled and thought… Hey, at least I have a PS4 and not an Xbone! 😛
