Virtual reality could be the future of interactive entertainment.
And a few Japanese designers believe VR makes "perfect sense" for horror games like Resident Evil . As a matter of fact, Capcom will consider such tech when making future installments in the legendary franchise.
During a new Game Informer interview with Resident Evil: Revelations 2 producer Michiteru Okabe, we find out that Okabe is a big VR supporter:
"Speaking personally, I'm really excited about VR. I think it makes sense. Having gone from 2D to 3D, now it's time to surround yourself in these worlds instead of just having a screen in front of you. It makes sense; the technology is there."
Okabe adds that as VR enhances the immersion, it's a great fit for the survival/horror genre. Furthermore, he says "it makes sense for a lot of game genres," because let's face it, immersion is a pretty big deal for just about all games. Resident Evil Remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added that he's "really stoked about the idea of virtual reality" as well.
What's your take? Would you want VR with your next horror adventure?
Cart then horse. The technology exists but it's not "there." As this point the best you could do would be a less graphically intense version of something like the P.T. Demo.
The Morpheus and Rift aren't going to have enough adopters as basically beta hardware to have real AAA Resident Evil software.
Focus on like something along the lines of Resident Evil 7 or the full reboot right now guys.
True Dat!!! Maybe in 5 years?
I really hope the future of horror isn't in first person. I just prefer third person games where I can see the character I am navigating. Just like how I don't want horror games to become full of jump scares like the movie industry.
In addition to that – horror games are supposed to be just that — not an action game with a few elements of horror.
Options will be great to have.
well maybe the intensity ad stuff will be improved but as for the interacivity and entertainment value maybe not so much
happy gaming
