NGP Price Estimates For Both Standard And 3G Models

A great many seem interested in Sony's Next Generation Portable but as is the case with most new hardware, price is always a big factor.

And because the NGP is still in the "prototype phase," Sony hasn't announced a price for their slick new portable device. We've seen quite a few estimates, but we also have to remember that consumers will have two options when the unit arrives: the standard model and the one that comes with 3G functionality. So, we actually need two price tags and apparently, a Sony insider has spilled the beans…to some extent: this inside source claims the standard model will be priced between $250 and $280 and the 3G version will be somewhere between $320 and $350. The latter version lets users play online anywhere on the wireless network, and will also come packed "with some extra pre-loaded applications which will make use of the 3G capabilities such as Augmented Reality." These sound like reasonable prices but of course, we won't know for sure until we have the official word.

So what say you? Is the standard model good enough for you or might you spring for the 3G? Or maybe you'll just get the Xperia Play and the NGP.
