As Variety reports, Ubisoft will launch Ubisoft Motion Pictures "to adapt its game franchises into films and TV skeins." The new film division will be headed up by Jean-Julien Baronnet, former CEO of Luc Besson's EuropaCorp, and his team will be tasked with making new entertainment offerings based on games from the Assassin's Creed , Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia franchises. No titles have been announced just yet, but you can bet they'll probably be related to at least one of those three major names in gaming. For the record, we've already seen one film adaptation of Prince of Persia ; the Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster starring Jake Gyllenhaal grossed $335 million worldwide.
Oh, and don't forget that Ubisoft Digital Arts, which launched in 2007, created those unbelievable 3D visuals we saw in "Avatar."
