The knee-jerk reaction to this will probably be, "uuuuhhh… no ." But if you really think about it, given the right director…
Hollywood is often looking to the world of video games for new movie ideas, and the latest huge franchises on the radar are Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed and Ghost Recon games.
According to a new publisher survey , it seems they're looking into some big-screen adaptations. In regards to AC, they ask participants if they're interested in learning more about Ezio, Subject 16 (Desmond Miles' predecessor at Abstergo), or a new assassin. None of this should come as a big surprise; don't forget that Ubisoft's Prince of Persia series entered the world of film last year. The critics didn't like it very much but the movie did very well at the box office, grossing over $335 million. Ghost Recon is a Tom Clancy franchise and that might be enough for success right there. Assassin's Creed offers plenty of fantastic opportunities for decent writers and if done correctly, the project could be great.
What? We're not allowed to be optimistic?
