Crytek May Have A TimeSplitters Surprise “Coming Soon”

We're just trying to be optimistic in focusing on the latter part of the quote. If you want to focus on the first part, you won't be so positively hopeful.

But hey, it's all about perception and how you look at things, right? During a recent VG247 interview with Crytek founder and CEO Cevat Yerli, we get a little update concerning the uncertain future of the well-respected TimeSplitters franchise.

Yerli also talked about how consoles are in danger of falling behind tablets as being "the first thing" a gamer grabs for because the current generation is "drying out." …but I'm going to ignore that for now. It's a tad too ridiculous to acknowledge. Anywho, here's what Yerli had to say when asked about TS:

"I tested through my official blog to see how big the Timesplitters community is, and while the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it’s not high enough yet. That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with Timesplitters, and I can only say this for now; we might have some surprises coming soon."

Okay, well that's potentially a good-news bad-news situation. On the one hand, the response hasn't been big enough, and yet it was big enough to turn heads at the studio, right? So what might the surprise entail? Are they anticipating the response to just keep rising in terms of "volume," which means they're thinking of making a move…?
