Fans have been calling for remakes for years, but Square-Enix and other publishers have turned a deaf ear to such requests.
Even so, the gamers won't stop hoping. According to Andriasang citing a poll from Goo Ranking, the Final Fantasy franchise tops the list of games fans would most like to see be remade. In fact, VII, VIII and IX are all in the top 3 and VIII was actually most requested. It was a small survey that took place in the month of October, but it's worth noting and certainly worth discussing; here's the top 15 of the list:
- Final Fantasy VIII (Square)
- Final Fantasy VII (Square)
- Final Fantasy IX (Square)
- Xenogears (Square)
- Valkyrie Profile (Enix)
- Paraiste Eve (Square)
- Ghost in the Shell (Sony)
- Bakusou Dekotora Densetsu (Human)
- Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (Namco)
- Dino Crisis (Capcom)
- King's Field (From Software)
- Segare Ijiri (Square)
- Legend of Dragoon (Sony)
- Front Mission Alternative (Square)
- Vagrant Story (Square)
Yeah, that's quite the list. Can you imagine getting high-definition remakes of these memorable experiences…? We've been asking for FF remakes for God knows how long, but so far, Square-Enix has had other plans. Perhaps if more people can convince the company that a FF remake project is a good idea, they'll finally get the hint. But don't hold your breath.
