Madden NFL 15 Team And Player Ratings

How does your favorite team and player rank?

It's always a hot topic of conversation every year: How did EA Sports decide to rank the players and teams in the new Madden installment?

EA has been unveiling a variety of rankings all week and it looks like they've culminated with the Top 10 Rookies . #1 pick Jadeveon Clowney for the Houston Texans sits atop the list with an overall rating of 83. As for all the teams and top 10 players at each position, you can check out the full list at GameSpot , if you're interested.

The highest-rated team is last season's Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, with an overall score of 91. The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers have 90s, while the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots have scores of 88. Denver's Peyton Panning and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers are the top two quarterbacks (98 OVR), Adrian Peterson is atop the running back list (98 OVR), the top receiver is Detroit's Calvin Johnson (99 OVR), and the #1 cornerback is – fittingly – Seattle's Richard Sherman (99 OVR). Sherman is also this year's cover athlete for the game.

Let the debate begin!

While most scores I feel are fitting there's a couple rookies I think are rated to high. The one rating that sticks out in my mind is Russell Wilson with a 93 at the QB position. Tom Brady is also a 93. Does that make sense? I'm no Tom Brady fan in fact I am not a fan at all, but on what planet is Russell Wilson even near the caliber player that Tom Brady is? Ask anyone outside of those developers and more importantly NFL insiders and most would agree that makes no sense.

Russell Wilson should have a high 80's score at best because of his legs and he's a game manager. But never will being a game manager in a video game help. I'm not sure why that frustrates me but it does. 😉 rant over.

This might be the first Madden game I buy in a few years. I bought every one for a long time then the franchise kinda went downhill until 2010 then declined again. The online season was brilliant.

We have to understand this isn't about football, it's about Madden. Madden is now it's own little subculture. The developers simply rank players depending on how they accumulated total results in real life TINGED HEAVILY by popularity. In the two years the Giants won the Super Bowls they were still ranked middle of the pack (including labeling Eli Manning as "oblivious" to pressure). The wins and achievements they pulled off obviously elevates them beyond that but crowd faves still ended up above them. Seattle is a hot topic team right now. They are young, and everything fell into place for them. Look back at their ratings 2-3 years ago and I'm sure they were nowhere near this level. Now when they win 12 games this season and get blasted out of the playoffs, did all of those guys all of a sudden crumble?
Madden ratings are there so we'll buy the game, period. You can take any team and go 16-0 and win a Super Bowl if you're good enough to utilize the cheeses in the program. This stopped being football over a decade ago. The last good Madden (football-wise)was in the 16-bit era.
