Update: This wasn't a Genesis game; it was a homebrew game made for the system in 2004. That makes me feel better.
Original Story:
How the hell did I miss this bad boy back in the day?!
No, seriously. Being a huge turn-based RPG fan, how have I never even heard of Pier Solar ? Apparently, it released back in 1993 for the Sega Genesis…maybe I was too focused on a Final Fantasy , or something.
Anyway, even though I don't have a Genesis anymore, it seems I'll still get a chance to play it. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, developer WaterMelon is remaking Pier Solar for most all current platforms. Pier Solar HD will release this spring (specifically, April) for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux, Ouya and Android platforms. Hell, they'll even produce a Dreamcast edition of the game! If you're unfamiliar (as I sadly was), check out the trailer below.
So pathetic. I'm a bad, bad RPG fan. 'hangs head in shame'
Related Game(s): Pier Solar HD
I haven't heard of it either. Might have to hunt it down and play it on Dreamcast.
Ah, I was wondering how I had never heard of it either. I'll definitely give this one a try.
Ahhh I see. It never was a Genesis game, it is a homebrew game for Genesis begun in 2004 by cool people.
I was going to say, I never heard of it and I loved my Genesis.
Nice research, boy.
Interesting, I'll definitely give it a try. Weird how it's so unknown and yet managed a successful kickstarter campaign.
actually Ben you missed it because it was never around back in the day. This game didnt come out for Genesis until 2010 and well who was playing genesis or even still had theirs during that time? lol
I'm excited. But wait… haven't people been whining about HD re-releases? See? This is a perfect example of why they (the HD updates, that is) are so awesome.
Well this is of topic, but here is a fun fact: It looks like Amazon just restocked there PS4 supply. Snagged one with a 2 year warranty for $430usd!
Just in case any of the PSX members who don't own a PS4 yet were interested.
Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations. Welcome to the family
The name sounds familiar. But I cant recall it to be honest. Mmmmmm. I love those 2d sprites. Count me in.
mmmmm…. turn based goodness. And hear we all thought this genre was going the way of the dodo. Now, back to fire emblem/bravely default 😉
