Drake vs. Croft: Who Would Win?

With all the hoopla surrounding Rise of the Tomb Raider and the exclusive deal with Xbox, it got me thinking:

Back when Uncharted was first revealed, Naughty Dog was accused of copying Tomb Raider and basically creating a male Lara Croft. Of course, as far as I'm concerned, Nathan Drake's adventures have been head-and-shoulders ahead of just about every other game available, and that includes any game Lara Croft has ever starred in.

But anyway, even though RotTR is just a timed exclusive for Microsoft, there are sure to be plenty of PlayStation vs. Xbox wars started by Uncharted 4: A Thief's End vs. Rise of the Tomb Raider . That's not always the most productive, though, as rampant immaturity typically takes hold. How's about we make it more fun? Who would win in a one-on-one fight? Nathan Drake or Lara Croft? Who has the edge? I suppose in terms of brute force, Drake has the advantage just 'cuz he's a dude, but Lara might be more agile. Remember, as evidenced in most of her games, she's basically a freakin' acrobat.

So, who wins and why? What do you say?

Hope they launch around the same time, then we can let the reviews speak for the games.
I have a feeling we will get something that surpasses Uncharted 2, ND would want to give Drake a grand farewell 🙂

I'd love to see them go head to head.

I'm thinking I don't want SE to see my money for this move once it does become available, after being a TR reboot supporter only to get a fresh kick in the teeth for it is unsettling.

On topic I think Lara would win. Nathan isn't a good fighter, he basically just holds his own like Indiana Jones. Lara's training would outdo him.

I don't understand that mentality. We still get to play it, just later. Boycotting it, or even the studio, seems childish to me. I want to play RotTR, and I'll still want to when it makes it's eventual bow on the PS4.

Buy it used if/when it releases on PS4, that way you get to continue the story without supporting SE/CD.

@Buck Frankly, taking cash in order to keep the product out of my hands when it is ready seems childish to me. Why accept or reward that sort of policy?

@touch yeah that's the plan, but then I suppose they will offer some great new incentive and I'll end up wimping out anyway. Hope not, I hate these no-faith business tactics.

I'm thinking there's a chance S-E may sweeten the PS4 edition when it does land. I think they got the message that many people are none to happy about this MS fiasco. I would imagine S-E will try to make it up by including upgrades that wont make it into the XO edition.

EDIT: I'm also pretty sure I read this game was being made for last-gen and current gen platforms. With that said while I think this new game will be cool I'm sorta banking that Uncahrted 4, something built for PS4 only, will stand a lot taller come holiday of 2015.

I'm also thinking MS scored this deal out of desperation. They don't have any kind of counter to Sony's Uncharted series, so they'll cheat the spoiled rich kid sorta way and throw a bunch of money at something hoping it'll work.

yea, sorta like the MS Surface tablets. A product line that's netted MS a whopping 1.7billion in lost money life to date. Like who the heck keeps marketing something with that kind of deficit? Must be a pride thing for MS. ANd really, when it comes to consumer devices, MS usually sucks it up big time by throwing tons of cash around with weak returns.

SE and CD have shown where they stand from the beginning. Even going back to the when the reboot was first shown off it's been positioned as an Xbox game. Yet it was the PS3 userbase that turned up with the cash and bigger sales. Then again with the Definitive Edition it was the PS4 owners who were there, and how does SE and CD repay that? Take the MS moneyhat and don't even offer a reasonable explanation just a 'we haven't abandoned you, here's downloadable crap you don't want.' Both these studios can f right off. I hope RotTR is a critical and commercial failure they don't recover from but I know it won't be. PS fans never learn, next up will be the Sleeping Dogs DE, which PS4 owners will buy only to get kicked below the belt again when MS moneyhats for Triad Wars or whatever the sequel is. Stop giving SE your money people. FF is garbage now and they clearly don't care about us PS gamers eventhough we're the ones who show them the money. I learned my lesson, hopefully a huge number of others have as well.

@World If someone offered you a big bag of cash to not visit a favorite establishment, you wouldn't take it? Anybody would. It's not childish, it's opportunistic.

I think a boycott is absolutely childish though. If you want to play the game, you still want to. Boycotting it because you get it later is ridiculous. I'll happily buy it when it releases for my platform. I'm not going to hold a grudge. Sure I'm disappointed, but if I still get it…it's all good.

That comparison isn't on point, but consumers not rewarding business practices they disagree with is as old as capitalism, done by many adults even.

On playstation its no contest
probably why SE went with the timed exclusive deal, did'nt what to go head to head with drake in nov 2015 on the playstation platform…better to release in july on ps during the summer drought….maximum cash intake!

It's a good one Lara would have the first strike because Drake being a ladies man would try to get laid with her instead of be serious, now lets not forget how lucky Drake can be, it's almost like if the guy was that X-Men Longshoot his luck it's out of the charts!

I say it depends on the age when they encountered each other. Nathan Drake has that dumb luck, regular everyday hero vibe going for him. But he's also been a trained street rat from an early age. Otherwise Lara comes off a lot more sophisticated and capable to take a brutal beating. So much so I'd imagine Drake would whimper cry from the same sort of experiences. She's also proven to be very resourceful in more of a Macgyver sort of way. That whole survival aspect. So I'd say seasoned Lara could take down Drake. Because Drake pretty much just solves conflict with his fist or a gun. Lara makes bows (and thinks of clever implementations of it), uses pick axes. She also can makeshift any of her own gear to be more effective. Pretty sure Drake never once makeshifted anything to work better. Also, Drake's fist-a-cuffs style combat is nothing compared to Lara's brutal combat skills. ANd we haven't even started talking about Lara's innate survival sense.

Of course, this probably just goes to show how much more dynamic TR's formula is with it's meatier survival action-adventure elements compared to Uncharted's more straight forward arcade style play.

Drake had a policy not to hit girls unless they started it. They'd probably make a bay and that baby would star in Uncharted Raiders and yeah.

Lara would probably win though since Drakes all about luck and Lara was 18 when she killed off an entire Russian army of trained professionals. Oh, and giant samurai spirit dudes.

I'd say Croft, but this is boring, I'd rather argue about the console wars… Hopefully Uncharted 4 will be as great as Uncharted 2, if it is, it'll be very tough for the backstabbing scumbags at Crystal Dynamics to top it. Especially since RotTR is a cross-gen game.

well my 2 cents here is its hard to say i mean they both quite nimble and agile but its hard to say who come out on top but yeah that is if he was about to concentrate but yeah depends how nate was as to how it would go down.

happy gaming

Wait if it is cross-gen game, and like I understand that new TR is exclusive only for XboxOne and on past gen conolose it will be released on the same day? Or am I wrong.

I love the new Lara, but Drake would win because she lacks the experience with so many franchise reboots.
