Add another one to the list of fast-paced action-adventures to hit stores in the first three months of 2010. We've already got Bayonetta and Darksiders, with Dante's Inferno and God of War III still on their way. Clash of the Titans slots in, as well, set to launch alongside the movie in March. Published by Namco and developed by Game Republic, this is actually a movie-licensed title you may want to look forward to.

Why? Because if you recall Game Republic is not exactly an unknown in the world of PlayStation 3. In fact, Game Republic is responsible for one of the best PS3 games to date, Folklore. And with them at the helm of development for Clash of the Titans, there is a lot of potential. Additionally, after seeing images, I remain quite optimistic, as the game looks extremely detailed and clean.

Because this is an action game in an epic mythological setting, expect fast-paced epic gameplay. One feature of the gameplay includes the ability to absorb your enemies' powers and make it your own all throughout the game. These stolen powers are fully upgradeable, allowing you to conquer bigger and badder opponents, such as bosses, with more ease. Furthermore, you can absorb the energy from your enemies' souls, which will increase the power of your attacks. In total, there'll be over 20 character upgrades made available to you, so there's plenty of room to help Perseus grow while he's in your command.

The story aims to follow and capture the movie as close as possible, in addition to taking on a number of liberties in order extend the experience to more than just two hours. In addition to the Story Mode, an all new Quest Mode will feature new missions that go beyond the movie, helping to add to the value. You will take control of Perseus, and run into familiar characters such as Zeus, Athena, and numerous others that will aid you in your journey to destroying Hades and his underworld creatures. Those creatures include the Hydra, Centaurs, Succubus, Cyclops, and Kraken, with an overall enemy count totaling over 80!

In total, you'll explore over a dozen environments based on the epic story, with artistic direction from the movie. These environments include citadels, wastelands, labyrinths, Mt. Nyssa and more. Chances are, if you know the story, you'll know what to expect when it comes time to see the movie and play the game.

Once again, I'm fairly, albeit cautiously optimistic for Clash of the Titans, largely because an established and talented developer is behind the game, one that is also very well versed with the PlayStation 3's architecture. Look for Clash of the Titans: The VideoGame to arrive March 26th.
