PC gamers have been able to tweak graphical settings for years. Hell, you sort of have to if you want to optimize the experience.
However, it's really not common at all for console games, despite the fact that home consoles have become more and more like PCs over the years.
Things are changing, though; take, for example, Tom Clancy's The Division . Did you know the developer is allowing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players to adjust various aspects of the graphics? This according to a Team Epiphany preview (check it out below) and posted up in the NeoGAF forums :
"You can disable certain lighting aspects to improve frame rates in the console versions. I don't know of another game that does that. So if you want to choose frame rate over visuals, you can if you want."
Now, the team did treat the PC "as a separate platform," so PC fans will be happy with the sheer number of customizable options. Still, it's nice to have at least a few options on console; this will include chromatic aberration and even the ability to sharpen images. The latter comes in the form of a slider that affects the amount of anti-aliasing, and Eurogamer shows you the effect(s) of altering such options.
The Division will launch on March 8 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The recent closed beta was a massive success but if you didn't get in, there's a good chance that we'll see an open beta very soon . And don't forget about the newly released video that highlights the game's awesome skills and mods .

Nice I'll choose framerate if it's a noticeable drop during regular settings.
Bioshock Infinite had an option like this too. I appreciate that.
I have a feeling this game is gonna sell well, but will eventually fail. The time I played it just seemed lacking a bit, much like when Destiny first came out.
I get the feeling you are right. But I hope they can prove more consumer concious than Bungie was.
Very cool. I'll choose performance over pretty graphics any day.
Im gonna stay on the fence for this game till its been out a while. i was hyped about a year ago but ive been burnt by ubisoft before. i still have nightmares about Watchdogs uugghh!
