Okay, for the record, Ninja Theory is not developing a new Onimusha .
The studio clarified recent rumors that they were cranking away on a next-generation iteration of the popular action franchise that hasn't returned for some time. Despite multiple installments last generation, Capcom's series has apparently disappeared for good.
But maybe not. Last year, Street Fighter 4 producer Yoshinori Ono said "the time feels right" to bring Onimusha back. He also added that he'd want to expand beyond the single-player experience, though, which is bound to bring a frown to the face of many fans. You know, those fans who don't necessarily believe that a game is broken if it doesn't sport multiplayer. Anyway, the question is this- Would Ninja Theory be the right studio to handle an Onimusha reincarnation? And if not, which developer would you choose?
Remember, Ninja Theory has already produced a couple quality action titles this generation ( Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West ), and they will deliver the Devil May Cry reboot in mid-January. If the latter comes out nicely, maybe those guys really would be the perfect team to handle an Onimusha return…
