Does The Witcher 3 Perform Better On PS4? Well, Perhaps

Many multiplatform games have been confirmed to boast a higher resolution on the PlayStation 4, as compared to the Xbox One.

However, it remains to be seen if CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one such title.

A Russian gaming website claimed the PS4 version of the hotly anticipated RPG displayed at 900p high-definition and 30 frames per second, while the Xbox One iteration ran in 720p/30fps. GameSpot tried to get the developer to confirm this, but the team isn't ready to talk just yet:

"It's just a rumor and we are not commenting [on] rumors. As soon as we will be ready to announce Spec we will let you know."

We know this game requires a huge amount of power and in fact, the developer has claimed that The Witcher 3 nearly maxes out the capabilities of both next-gen consoles. Given the sheer size of the game, it's incredibly unlikely that they'll manage 1080p or 60fps but even so, it should remain mighty impressive.

This is indeed an extremely ambitious undertaking. The question remains, though: Is this another game that just seems better off on the PS4? The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due out in February 2015.
