Warrior’s Lair, Previously Called Ruin, Canceled For Vita

One of the very first confirmed titles for the PlayStation Vita has officially been canceled.

A Sony representative told IGN that Warrior's Lair , which was originally announced as Ruin , is no longer in development.

It was supposed to be an action/RPG that would support the attractive cross-play feature. Unfortunately, we soon heard rumors of layoffs at co-developer Idol Minds, which was followed by the news that Sony had transferred development to Sony San Diego. That didn't pan out, though, and now the game is no more. We liked the idea of a cool dungeon-crawler coming to the Vita but these days, cross-play isn't anything new. We've seen it before, so maybe the game just wasn't good enough on its own.

And that's too bad because the Vita could really use every ounce of help it can get right now.

Sony: Warrior’s Lair Isn’t Canceled

It's always concerning when a potentially high-profile game disappears from the public eye.

There have been rumors concerning the possible cancellation of the cross-platform PS3/Vita title, Warrior's Lair (previously named "Ruin"), but Sony has clarified things over at the European PlayStation Blog .

In response to the idea that the game has been ditched and developer Idol Minds has lost half its team, Sony addressed the first part of that rumor: " Warrior's Lair is still in development; it isn't canceled." However, the Idol Minds rumor may actually be true because Sony wouldn't confirm that the game was still in development at that particular studio. Here's hoping it's still in the works somewhere , and it'll be a worthwhile title to add to our collections when it finally arrives.

If you forget, Warrior's Lair is supposed to be an action-oriented dungeon-crawler of sorts, along the lines of Diablo . It certainly has potential; we miss the good ol' action/RPG top-down adventures.
