Wardevil Passes Muster, Changes Name To Project Kane

Those of you who have been following PlayStation 3 news throughout the generation may remember a game called Wardevil . And we know what your question is: what happened to it?

Well, here's an update : UTV Ignition Entertainment has announced "the conclusion of its studio review for the third-person action title, War Devil, which will now be called 'Project Kane.'" The project has the green light to proceed to production after nothing had happened for some time. It seems they needed to perform a once-over of the game before saying it was good to go; said UTV Ignition group chairman Hassan Sadiq:

"Following a comprehensive audit of the title, assets and internal team, we have decided that a core team responsible for the Project Kane prototype will take the game into full production, led by the key vision holders.

There has been speculation recently about this project but our vision has always been to create top quality content both with internal and external partners and this latest commitment combines the best of the DNA behind the original project vision with some of the creative talent available in the broader industry. Outsourcing ensures flexibility and broader expertise that will dovetail perfectly with internal skill sets to speed up the process and ensure a title of true excellence."

Design Director Julian Glover added that they have "cherry-picked from some of the world's best teams to build our UK studio which includes personnel whose combined previous development credits include Burnout 3 , Crysis , LittleBigPlanet , and Heavenly Sword ." Well, having the requisite talent always helps, doesn't it? Right now, the freshly named Project Kane is loosely scheduled to arrive in Q4 2011, but at least now we know it still exists.  Stay tuned as the developers push forward.
