If you're looking for originality int he realm of first-person shooters, here you go.
Okay, it's not really an FPS…but it is. Tough to explain. Head on over to the PlayStation Blog and VizionEck founder Michael Armbrust will describe his studio's first game for the PlayStation 4: VizionEck .
Yes, the studio and the game have the same name. But that's hardly where the strangeness ends, as you probably figured out when you saw the main character: A cube. Technically, he's a Ranger but he really just looks like a cube. The interesting part is that your health is displayed by the brightness of the cube; bright white means you're at full health. If you're almost black, it means you're almost dead. "Even the smallest enemy shot would mark your end."
But you know, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The less health you have, the harder it is for enemies to see the outlines of your cube. And if you position yourself over a black area, you're "practically invisible." Sneaking up on other players becomes a walk in the park. Then there's another twist: The Spawn Room features 24 blocks but not all of them are Rangers. If you stay still, nobody will be certain if you're a Ranger or just a random cube.
Yeah, it's one of the more creative ideas we've seen in a long while.
