Sony Having A Tough Time Recruiting Third-Party Vita Support

The PlayStation Vita can use all the help it can get, and that help should traditionally come in the form of software.

But while there are some important titles coming out, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida admitted to the Official PlayStation Magazine (as cited by The Silent Chief ) that things are a little difficult from a recruitment standpoint.

"We're having a more difficult time than we had anticipated in terms of getting support from third-party publishers, but that's our job."

He did mention the upcoming Assassin's Creed III: Liberation , which Sony is hoping will be a huge title for the new handheld. They're also hoping it will lure other developers to the Vita fold but for the time being, it'll be all about convincing reluctant studios to produce something for the slick portable.

Added Yoshida:

"We will continue to talk to development communities and publishing partners, and tell them why Vita can provide a great experience for the IPs they have, and I hope the Assassin's Creed game will prove that."

It's odd that basically all the best Vita titles arrived at launch. That really was a great launch in terms of software, which is what Sony wanted. But now they've got to keep the games flowing at a pretty frequent clip, even if 2012 hasn't been the best year for new releases overall.
