Bruce Lee Now Free For All UFC Fans

Bruce Lee is a fighting legend and now, it'll cost you nothing to step into his agile shoes.

Considered the father of mixed martial arts, Lee was included as premium DLC in this year's UFC effort. Now, though, all five versions of Lee are available as a free download through January 5, 2015 via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in North America.

Here are the 5 Lees:

In point of fact, Lee never actually fought in real competition but really, does that matter? We're talking about a legend in every sense of the word, and to have him included in UFC is just an homage to combat history. As for the game in question, it has a few annoying control issues but otherwise, it's a solid sports title.

Bruce Lee Is Awfully Popular In UFC

Oh come on, is anyone really surprised?

Bruce Lee never fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Hell, he never even fought competitively. And yet, he's the most-used fighter in the latest UFC installment from EA Sports.

EA tossed over an infographic showing off some statistics related to the game, but perhaps the most important one is this: Bruce Lee has been selected as the player's fighter of choice 3.41 million times, which is just ahead of Jon "Bones" Jones and Georges St-Pierre, both of whom have been selected 3.4 million times. The interesting part is that Lee isn't accessible unless you either A. pre-ordered the game, or B. finished the Career Mode on hard difficulty, or C. paid to access him ($2 per weight class, $6 to unlock Lee in four weight classes).

This tells me that Lee's popularity remains high, but it also tells me that a lot of people probably paid to unlock him. Guess they just couldn't resist. As for UFC , check out our review if you haven't already; they just need to fix the overly complex control, IMO.

UFC Demo Available Next Week

Try it before you buy it. That's the beauty of the demo.

Electronic Arts has announced that their upcoming MMA game, simply titled UFC , will receive a playable demo. It'll be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 3.

The free sample lets you participate in a virtual rematch of UFC 165, featuring fighters Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. Jones won the actual match last September but if you'd rather see a different ending, give it a go. The two will meet in the real rematch on August 30 in Las Vegas; as for the the game in question, UFC will be ready to go on June 17 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

If you haven't heard, legendary martial artist Bruce Lee will be included as a playable character. There's no knowing how Lee would've done in the Octagon against today's fighters, especially because he never fought competitively himself. This virtual simulation may not be able to answer that question but hey, it's Bruce Lee. Who doesn't want to play as this guy in a fighting game?
